Job Description

Job Introduction

From sourcing a giant disco ball as a prop for BBC Breakfast to setting up a shoot in one of the most dangerous places in the world for a documentary, from organising a live audience panel debate on Newsnight to working on a high profile investigation for Panorama, our teams in BBC News and Current Affairs make the impossible happen.

Do you enjoy working in an environment where one day is never the same?  Are you flexible, thrive from working on content that matters and have a passion for being part of a team? If so then come and join us.

We’re  looking for experienced Production Managers to be part of our talent pool covering some of the BBC’s flagship programming including: daily programmes such as BBC Breakfast and Newsnight; one off Current Affairs documentaries and short series such as One Day in Gaza , Life at 50 and Undercover with the Clerics; Radio output ranging from Newsbeat to More or Less and File On Four; and long running investigative series including Panorama and Africa Eye.

Candidates who are successful in the recruitment process will be placed in our Production Manager Talent Pool and will be offered work as and when opportunities arise during peak business periods across the News division.  Appointment to the pool will not entitle candidates to a permanent contract in the BBC, those will have to be applied for in the normal way, and neither does it guarantee work.

Any work offered with the BBC will be conditional upon you having the right to work in the UK.

  • Resolving any operational and financial issues commensurate with the role.
  • Managing the financial and operational performance of the production
  • Preparing, managing and monitoring production (& IT) budgets, and forecasting and reporting progress in line with best practice
  • Ensuring production teams are aware of, and adhere to the processes for fully and accurately capturing and managing metadata in line with BBC guidelines and policies.
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy working environment at all times, escalating any issues or areas of concern.
  • Proactively searching for ways to improve efficiency within production, promoting diversity and championing the rationale for new ways of working and/or for adopting new production related technology.

The Ideal Candidate
