Overview

The Product Owner for DevOps Enablement is a critical role supporting a global team, focused on improving the way teams deliver software within Citi. The DevOps enablement team is a key strategic and growing function within ICG Developer Engineering, and requires a number of experienced product owners to join the team.

The Product Owner is responsible for defining themes, epics, and stories; prioritising one or more of the DevOps enablement team’s backlogs to drive the continual improvement of our DevOps capabilities. The Product Owner has a significant role in maximizing the value produced by the DevOps enablement team and ensuring that we provide world class solutions that meet the developer community’s needs, while maximizing the productivity impact for the business.

About the Role

The DevOps enablement team is responsible for providing DevOps tooling and best practices as a service to our users across all of Citi.

The product owner group within the DevOps enablement team is being setup to create a truly agile product ownership capability to enable us to ship world class tools to our developers. As a part of this team, you will be a responsible for one or more of the modules of our DevOps product suite.

About the Department

Developer Engineering is a new function within ICG Technology. Our mission is to make it easy and enjoyable for development teams to go from a business idea to delivery of an innovative production solution. This will be done by improving and upgrading our tools, streamlining our processes, automating, and strengthening our controls, and helping development teams adopt modern ways of working.

This new initiative represents a key investment in our future development capability. We are assembling an expert team to transform the working environment of the 18,000 people who make up the ICG development community and help them dramatically change their approach to developing software across the many different technologies we support. This is a challenging remit, but with the scale and variety comes a unique opportunity to be agents of cultural and technical change who have a huge impact on the bank.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage building out initiatives, epics, and stories to continually feed the backlog of one or more of the modules of the DevOps product suite
• Work with our development teams within DevOps enablement to drive our agile transformation
• Work with both internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, both directly and through our user feedback programs
• Help to align the product with the wider DevOps strategy
• Work with our program managers to ensure that the delivery of the teams is transparent
• Maintain a methodical and structured approach to making sure stories are kept up to date and in a presentable and easy to understand format
• Ensure that the teams are delivering high quality software in alignment with the definition of done
• Provide in-depth and sophisticated analyses with interpretive thinking to define problems, develop innovative solutions and influence strategic functional decisions
• Ability to build a narrative on themes including successes as well as areas of concern that may require focus
• Drive adoption by engaging with the developer community, building relationships that will encourage users to champion the product

Experience

• Proven track record in working withing an agile environment, with multiple teams
• A working knowledge of the software development process with specific experience in working with DevOps methodologies
• Stakeholder management including representatives from every level of the organization
• Managing communication and engagement with a large community of knowledgeable users
• Solid knowledge of Confluence and Jira
• Running technical demonstrations to a large, geographically diverse audience
• Experience with code contribution models such as inner-sourcing an advantage
