BBC Sounds is looking for a Product Manager to work in our Mobile Apps team, growing our audience and encouraging them to use Sounds regularly, with a particular focus on voice capable devices.
The Sounds team, part of the BBC’s Design and Engineering division, is tasked with developing the BBC’s flagship audio product. Along with its sister product, BBC iPlayer, Sounds is a core priority (see https://www.bbc.com/aboutthebbc/reports/annualplan) and is at the heart of reinventing the BBC for a new generation.
Our product development teams build these two key BBC products. Our mission is to secure the Internet future of BBC. It is an exciting time to join the team as we have ambitious goals to be the number one online audio service in the UK.
Working in digital product development at the BBC means being part of a department whose work impacts 25 million users every day across our products and content consumption. This is an opportunity to work on digital product at a scale that is hard to find.
With established bases in London and Salford, we are also in the process of growing a base in Glasgow. This role is based in our team in Glasgow.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key part in establishing a brand new multidisciplinary Sounds App team in Glasgow (iOS and Android). In this role you will be responsible for providing direction and making day-to-day product decisions. You will learn about our users’ needs to a deep level and use this insight to work closely with your fellow Product Managers based in other BBC locations to ensure the right priorities are being set across Sounds wider team.
