This position is part of an exciting new team within the Sky Consumer business. Reporting into the Smart Home Product Lead, you will be responsible for defining functional requirements, prioritising development tasks, and optimising the performance of our Smart Home consumer IoT products and mobile apps.

What you’ll do:

– Define requirements and the optimal user experience for our consumer IoT devices and mobile apps, working closely with business analysts, design and product specialists, developers and key suppliers.
– Maintain the product roadmap, working alongside the Product Lead, delivery team, and other stakeholders to ensure it will deliver our business goals.
– Groom the product backlog, working with the development team to balance feature development with improvements and maintenance.
– Be the authority on priorities and expected behaviour for the products, and provide fast feedback and clarifications to speed up decision-making during development.
– Assess and optimise product performance in the field, using critical metrics and collaborating with customer support teams to find opportunities for improvement.
– Publish product documentation, including the product roadmap, product requirements, and release notes, aimed at both technical and non-technical audiences.
– Have scope to work with your colleagues to develop the most effective methodology and approach – it’s all about getting things done.

What you’ll bring:

– Have at least 2 years’ experience of consumer electronics and software product management and agile development, gained in a commercial environment.
– Hands-on experience using brand new consumer IoT products, including cameras and sensors.
– Ability to demonstrate a solid understanding of the product lifecycle, and have hands-on experience of leading product roadmaps.
– A good grasp of internet technologies, and the relationship between consumer IoT devices, mobile apps and cloud services using REST APIs.
– Solid understanding of the importance of data privacy and information security, and be familiar with the standards, regulations and best practices that apply to connected consumer electronics products.
– Awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends in consumer IoT, and the impact this will have on our long-term product strategy.
