Product Development Engineer - ATE

The Role:

The person in this role will be a member of a test team that works on planning, debugging and developing manufacturing and characterization test programs for next-generation AMD microprocessors. They work on Automated Test Equipment (ATE) platforms including Verigy 93K. They debug test infrastructure issues including test HW, test SW, and device-specific IP. They must ensure overall compatibility, compliance, and test coverage of microprocessors from product definition through product qualification and into high volume manufacturing by developing product specific test hardware, software, and diagnostics.

 

The Person:

  • The person should possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work with geographically distributed product engineering teams. Also, the ability to lead projects of 1-3 months duration.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • This person would be responsible for definable portion of large project or process and for quality and timely result. Primary focus is on driving execution of projects.
  • Solves complex problems and makes some modifications to standard methods.
  • Is expected to implement important technical decisions.
  • Involves collaboration on or assuming the responsibility for a specific project, or a definable portion of a larger project or process.
  • Includes accountability for results in that area, and for communication of the status of interdependencies to management or senior product development staff.
  • Execute product improvement activities to reduce cost, improve yield and resolve quality issues.
  • Other duties, as necessary.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • 2 or more years of experience in semiconductor product development.
  • 2 or more years of experience in silicon debug using Standard ATE platforms such as 93K Tester or equivalent. (SLT experience also accepted.)
  • Strong experience with C++, Java, C, or C#.
  • 1 or more years of experience in XP, AGILE, Scrum, or Kanban as processes.
  • Statistical analysis experience to determine population mean and outliers.
  • Pareto analysis experience to drive a debug process.
  • Experience w/ PC HW debug including networking, storage, and thermal control.
  • Familiar with general Computer Architecture concepts such as pipelining and caching, x86 architecture, and PC computer organization.
  • Experience with logic analyzers, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and other debug tools.
  • Experience with revision control (GIT, SVN, CVS, or similar).
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Ruby, shell script, or similar
  • Familiar with Linux or Unix Operating Systems.
  • Familiar with Microsoft standard apps (i.e. Office), Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
  • Familiar with building computer systems (desktops, laptops, servers, etc).
  • Low level software development experience (Assembly, BIOS).
  • Familiar with hardware description languages.

 

Academic Credentials:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, industry experience is a plus.
