The primary role of this position is:

Engineer must debug customer issues, identify corrective actions, and implement into test programs for next-generation AMD microprocessors using internal System Level Test (SLT) platforms. Debug test infrastructure issues including test HW, test SW, diagnostics and device-specific IP. Develop, assess, and implement new test coverage and methods to improve the customer experience on current and future products.

 

Potential roles of a Product Development Senior Engineer include:

  1. Is responsible for quality and timeliness of result for a portion of project/process.
  2. Problems require analysis and evaluation using standard engineering methods.
  3. Makes more complex technical decisions independently.
  4. Performs design or design-equivalent work on a portion of a project, process or activity of limited scope.
  5. Has accountability for accuracy, reliability and completeness of assignment results which contribute to a managed project’s success.
  6. Execute product improvement activities to reduce cost, improve yield and resolve quality issues.
  7. Other duties as necessary.

 

 

Qualifications:

Years of experience and education: Candidates will have a B.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science plus 5 years of directly related experience or M.S. in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering plus 3 years experience.

 

Required Skills:

  1. At least one year programming experience with C++,Java, C, or C#.
  2. Familiar with general Computer Architecture concepts such as pipelining and caching, x86 architecture, and PC computer organization.
  3. Courses in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Digital Logic, and Circuit Theory.
  4. Experience in Lean, XP, AGILE, Scrum, or Kanban processes.
  5. Experience with revision control (GIT, SVN, CVS, or similar).
  6. Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Ruby, shell script, or similar
  7. Familiar with Linux or Unix Operating Systems.
  8. Familiar with Microsoft standard apps (i.e. Office), Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
  9. Good communication skills and the ability to work with geographically distributed product engineering teams.

 

Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience in silicon debug using customized diagnostics and OS’s on a bench or in System Level Test platform.
  2. Familiar with building computer systems (desktops, laptops, servers, etc).
  3. Low level software development experience (Assembly, BIOS).
  4. Experience w/ PC HW debug including networking, storage, and thermal control.
  5. Familiar with using logic analyzers, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and other debug tools.
  6. Familiar with hardware description languages.
  7. Statistical analysis experience to determine population mean and outliers.
  8. Pareto analysis experience to drive a debug process.
  9. Work experience in any of these areas preferred.
