You will
Sit within the Data Protection team and the broader L’Oréal UKI Legal team, reporting into the Head of Data Protection/Data Protection Officer for L’Oréal UKI
Play a key role in the continued improvement, coordination and management of L’Oréal’s Data Privacy Programme, as well as having the opportunity to get involved with more general commercial work.
Support the Head of Data Protection in providing expert advice and support to the business on all aspects of data protection law, compliance, and best practice. This includes advising all business areas with day-to-day Data Protection queries.
Draft and negotiate commercial agreements relating to data protection, including outsourcing and data transfer agreements.
Review new projects for data protection risks, and assist with developing appropriate and pragmatic solutions to ensure risks are mitigated and privacy by design principles are incorporated, including supporting the completion of data privacy impact assessments (where appropriate).
Support the Head of Data Protection in managing local and global governance initiatives and business partners in managing data subject requests and data security incidents.
Oversee the development and maintenance of data privacy-related policies and guidance as well as deliver and support a data privacy training and awareness programme.
Work closely with the IT, digital and CMO teams and support them with short-term proof of concepts or trials in an agile way.
Sit on the digital advisory board that provides input into the prioritisation of digital projects, participating in agile working scrums and workflows.
Keep up to date with proposed and actual changes in Regulation or guidance, assess their impact, and advise relevant teams accordingly whilst also keeping the DP Team templates and guidance documents up to date.
You may also have the opportunity from time to time to support the Senior Legal Counsel with IT and digital workload. Key responsibilities may include:
- Drafting and negotiating all types of IT and digital contracts such as Master digital services agreements, software licence agreements, SaaS and PaaS agreements.
- Working with the wider legal team and providing support on digital/IT/tech law as and when required.
- Providing bespoke legal training to the business.
You have
The role will require the ability to work with multiple stakeholders, and therefore you must be able to:
- Have the confidence and experience to make complex decisions at pace, often when working with senior staff.
- Liaise with other teams as required (e.g. wider legal team, Information Security, Internal Control, Digital, CMO) at both a local and global level.
- Digest large amounts of information quickly and efficiently.
- Work with a substantial degree of autonomy, and re-prioritise your workload as new questions or projects arise.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels and adopt a flexible style to suit a variety of stakeholders.
- Build strong networks with, and gain the trust of, colleagues across the business by sharing best practice and bringing a confident and solutions-driven approach.
Key qualifications:
- NQ-4+ PQE qualified lawyer.
- Experience advising on privacy and digital in either a well-respected private practice or in-house environment.
- Strong interest and experience in data privacy and digital technology preferred.
- CIPP/E or similar certification would be beneficial.
The role may involve limited national and international travel.
