Azure Service Fabric, within Azure Compute, is a highly decentralized runtime that abstracts and solves some of the hardest distributed systems problems, like failure detection, leader election, and replicated state machines that are fundamental to building hyper-scale, reliable, and available systems. Service Fabric powers many critical first and third-party services, including Azure Control Plane experiences, and runs symmetrically on the cloud and on premises.

System Services are a set of core-services in a Service Fabric cluster that are at the heart of running microservices at scale. Their responsibilities span multiple aspects:

• Enabling high reliability, availability and fast failovers for microservices running in the cluster – and the cluster itself.
• Efficient and fast access, and deployment of, microservice code across the nodes in the cluster.
• Enable management experience for the cluster.
• Work closely with the Replication subsystem for enabling quorum based access for Stateful micro-services.
• Work closely with the Federation subsystem for fast failover detection.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of strong technical leads and engineers to enable System Services scaling, and performing, to the growing needs of Azure infrastructure and services. You will be contributing to the growth and management of the team, planning for the execution, contributing to technical designs, in addition to defining the vision for the space.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

• 9+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of leading and growing engineering teams.
• Solid Computer Science fundamentals and coding skills in C/C++.
• Experience in building distributed systems and driving their performance.
• Experience in multi-threaded, asynchronous, and systems programming.
• Strong technical design, problem solving, and debugging skills.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field, OR equivalent industry experience.
• Effective interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in driving scale and performance for E2E scenarios.
• Experience in setting product direction.
