This role is for a Principal Engineering manager on the Bing Travel team.  We are building a world class Travel solutions spanning the whole spectrum of user's travel journey.  We are looking for a strong leader with a background and passion for generating personalized recommendations, image and video mining and analytics systems to power the best of web Travel solution. This role is for an experienced manager to lead a very capable team of engineers and scientists working in these areas.

These travel solutions span across multiple canvases and the role involves understanding user intent, history and making customized recommendation, leading with great image, video and virtual experiences and providing insights drawn from analytics.  Our experiences are seen by millions of users per day today and we expect to keep growing that significantly to create useful and personalized insights at web scale.  These span across the whole spectrum from travel inspiration, destination exploration, planning trips, booking and experiencing stages.   This is a great time for a strong leader with relevant experience to come on board and become a key part of this journey.

Our Bing India team comprises of highly motivated engineers, product managers and data-scientists building end-to-end web-scale and enterprise-scale AI systems. Responsibilities

• Obsession about customer experience
• Design, develop, test and deploy scalable and always available services which deliver delightful and finely-crafted user experiences on Bing.
• Collaborate with different teams across discipline to achieve the above.
• Analyze risks and compromises with various design choices
• Solve problems relating to mission critical services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence
• Identify and fix or drive fixes for systemic issue.

Qualifications

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills
• Excellent software design and coding skills and understanding of OO concepts.
• Experience with deep data science problems and building recommendations systems is a definite plus
• Great analytical and problem solving skills, with a strong bias for quality and engineering excellence.
• Experience with building internet scale services and infra are a definite plus
• Passion for new technologies, learning and adapting quickly, end user quality, and customer satisfaction
• Ability to debug and resolve issues spanning multiple subsystems.
• Firm sense of accountability and ownership for end-to-end project lifecycle.
• Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship.
• 12 - 15+ years related experience and at least 4 years managing teams
