The Azure DNS team builds and manages DNS services for Azure infrastructure and Azure customers. The team builds authoritative and recursive DNS services for the scale and reliability for Azure. DNS infrastructure is built on Windows and Linux using proprietary and open-source technologies. Azure DNS also enables other innovations in Azure by providing a robust platform for resource naming across all Azure features like Storage, Software Defined Networking, databases, and Azure Compute. This provides an enormous opportunity to build integrated solutions with other Azure services and to launch brand new services in DNS and application delivery. This team owns Linux DNS serving plane for both authoritative and Recursive DNS services. The team’s main challenges are

• Handling the large scale of DNS data to support multiple Azure services, and azure customers’ DNS needs
• High performance serving plane that provides high scale and low latency to DNS query resolution across the globe
• DNS security and DDoS protection for Azure DNS serving planes

Responsibilities

A pragmatic, passionate, and skilled engineering leader looking to join a team of very strong engineers on a mission to build a fast, secure, and reliable software platform to provide critical DNS services. You will own key features end to end and provide technical leadership to the projects that you are part of. You are excited by the opportunity to be a force multiplier and mentor/coach other engineers in the team to deliver results. The components that you will be working on span multiple different technologies and tools, and you will find right tools to solve the problem. You should be passionate to explore tools and methodology for solving similar problems, reusing and improving on the solution. You will be working with other teams to define functional specification and test cases, and prepare the plan for the project. You will also be working on designing, implementing, testing, deploying and monitoring of the service by working with the team of engineers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in software development with C, C++ or Java

• BS or MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experiences

• Knowledge in networking/ network security, DNS Protocol, multi-tier distributed systems.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
