The opportunity
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Principal Engineer Fleet Technical Specialist. Reporting to the Director Fleet Engineering, you will lead and manage a team of engineers to provide expertise in area of specific fleet discipline, including Heavy Rail, Light Rail, Buses, and Heavy Vehicles. The role is responsible for the development of standards documentation; development and review of fleet asset strategies, advising on research and development activities relating to assets; technical integrity audits; investigation and advice relating to assets; network performance assessment and reporting; the assessment of Authorised Engineering Organisations (AEOs); and the development of effective and timely resolutions to issues.

About you
Demonstrated experience in developing professional technical documents, specifications, guidelines and government publications to a quality standard
Knowledge and experience in Buses and Heavy Vehicles Engineering
Knowledge and experience in rail vehicle sub systems Engineering
Proven experience in applying and using best practice multi-media communication tools, software and platforms to disseminate information to a diverse audience across a large complex organisation
Identifying opportunities to improve processes
Strategic thinker with proven leadership capability
Able to act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and build effective relationships
You will understand the challenges and opportunities of working within a matrix-based organisation, and of collaborating with multiple deployed teams
You will be an inclusive and persuasive communicator
Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
