Title : PHY Display Design Engineer

The Role : This position will be the technical owner/coordinator of the full display pipeline from the display PHYs to the end point (displays, hubs). The engineer will be interacting and coordinating work by multiple teams including display PHY, signal integrity, simulation, components, board design and rules, packaging, digital IP (interface between digital and analog) and other teams. The position is cross platform and cross business units.

The Person : Will excel at presenting with different teams to drive and coordinate. Provide technical leadership and oversight in a fast paced and multifaceted environment

Responsibilities :

Many of the display PHY responsibilities may be in the form of direct driving, overview and/or coordination with multiple AMD teams across different business units and platforms. Much of the following work will be done by different teams under the oversight of this position.

New Display PHYs

• help define new display PHY and supported channel requirements

• work with simulation teams to validate and verify the same

• work with simulation teams to set channel support capabilities per ASIC/per program

• coordinate the validation/correlation between final measured results and original simulations

Planning and implementation of display PHY validation across all AMD platforms

• develop top level characterization, tuning, testing and feature validation requirements/plans for all AMD platforms

Display PHY Design Guides/Rules/Procedures

• develop all AMD additional interop requirements beyond standards compliance testing

• monitor for design/functional issues that are missed by AMD interop or standard compliance testing

• ensure AMD has common and comprehensive design rules and common design elements across programs

• develop formal tuning procedures/methodology

Customer Enablement Assistance

• develop and deploy checklists for design and validation and tuning for all customer engagements

• train AMD design teams and CE teams on display interfaces (function, design, debug, etc)

• ensure infrastructure (component availability, documentation) will be in place to support any new PHY capabilities and requirements

• assist in critical issues/debug as needed once CE teams have exhausted the normal procedures to resolve

Technical Oversight for AVL Components

• work with different specialists/owners for the different critical component categories for display PHYs

• enable AMD cross platform AVLs development and maintenance for display related components

• work with AVL component business owners and engineer owners to ensure availability of new technology components as needed

High Speed Display Adapter Card Program Consultant

• define new daughtercards as needed for signal conditioners/connectors

• advise on any changes to High Speed Display Adapter Card programs

Display PHY Competitive Analysis

• review and test AMD PHY capabilities against the competition

• resolve any shortcomings and help drive improvements to future AMD PHYs

• settle any AMD advantages
