Responsibilities

Lead innovative initiatives in the area of Information Retrieval, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning

Collaborate closely with other Data and Applied science and product teams to create relationships and the next generation of innovation in our products and services

Support and develop a research culture within the ACS organization that encourages experimentation and scientific process to drive innovation in our products and services

Communicate internally and externally through publication, presentations, and other mediums (e.g., blogs, press interviews) on research progress, major breakthroughs, and product innovation

Be a Role model for a data science team to extract Insights from large scale, distributed telemetry from across the organization to support a data-driven business and enable models with artificial intelligence.

Be a role model for an engineering team that Build strong relationships with partner teams within Microsoft to bring innovation to new and existing communications applications.

Work with Program Management to influence business strategy.

Help develop a data informed approach in the team, with data trustworthiness principles.

Lead the team with a growing mindset and model a diverse and inclusive culture.

Qualifications

Essential qualifications

MS or PhD degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, OR equivalent years of work experience.

8+ years of industry experience developing product level data systems and algorithms preferred, with a proven track record of successfully shipping applied research to production

Excellent problem solving and data analysis skills, with expertise in developing or applying predictive analytics, statistical modeling, data mining, or machine learning algorithms, especially at scale

Preferred qualifications

Ability to communicate technical details clearly across organizational boundaries.

Experience in DevOps to maintain live services and\or application frameworks.

Familiarity with building data science applications and services in the Cloud would be very helpful. Knowing Microsoft Azure stack is helpful, but not required.

Applied Research experience in at least one of the following: Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing,  Information Retrieval, AI fairness, transparency, and ethics,

Passion for building highly scalable-reliable-resilient services

Experience with or exposure to Agile and iterative development processes.
