Job summary
The Amazon Devices and Digital Services team is seeking an innovative, results-oriented, customer-centric team player to help accelerate customer and partner growth by negotiating and executing new strategic partnerships with global telecommunications operators for Amazon Devices and Digital Services including Alexa and eero.
As a Principal Tech Business Development Manager, you will set and execute strategy for engaging with global telecommunications operators including prioritizing partners, negotiating agreements, and managing ongoing relationships. You will work in a fast moving and ambiguous environment, use effective C-level communication skills to manage relationships, develop and execute win-win business plans that help our partners and sales channels thrive. This individual is an important team member, contributing to the overall customer experience through Amazon product and partner channels. The ideal candidate has solid business judgment with a track record of successful negotiations and strong overall relationship management.
Key job responsibilities
• Serve as a key member of the Amazon Devices and Digital Services team in helping to define and deliver the overall business strategy.
• Manage both executive and working-level relationships with large, global telecommunications operators including mobile operators and Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
• Negotiate agreements defining key technical and business commitments.
• Prospect and close business to meet or exceed business goals for (i) quantity and quality of customer subscribers recruited and (ii) operational metrics.
• Align partner activities with internal marketing, product, legal and engineering teams.
• Prepare and deliver business reviews to senior leadership updating on progress and roadblocks.
• Identify, qualify, and engage with prospective telco partners for Alexa, eero and other Amazon teams.
• Create and articulate compelling value propositions around our Service Provider programs.
• Identify opportunities and advocate product innovations to delight our customers.
• Identify accounts’ complex problems/frictions and work internally with Amazon teams to drive scalable resolutions.
• Understand and contribute to cadenced reporting and narratives, and present them effectively to Amazon leaders.
• You will identify new opportunities for our business, working with internal stakeholders and (at times) leading the development of business cases that delight our customers.

-Lead presentation to potential partner on new cross-Amazon Devices business opportunity
-Internal BD/legal prep call for external partner negotiation
-External call with potential partner to review new business opportunities
-Meeting with Devices organization partner teams (e.g. Fire TV, Ring, Luna, Project Kuiper, Fuse) to coordinate cross-team partnership efforts
-Prep deck for new business opportunity meeting later in week
-Draft term sheet / strategy document for advancing partner opportunity
-BD/legal external agreement negotiation call
-Internal product team meeting to review launch status and partner dependencies

We are a strategic and high-visibility BD team motivated to bring the best possible technology and experiences to Amazon customers. We love working collaboratively across the Devices and Digital Services organization and beyond to provide strategy and negotiation expertise to multiple product and engineering client
• Extensive years of post-degree business development experience
• Demonstrated competence in working independently to structure, negotiate, and close partnerships
• Exceptional ability to communicate with and influence both technical and non-technical audiences
• Demonstrated high judgement and willingness to roll up sleeves to do what is necessary to meet team goal
• Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations
• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience working in or for internet service providers and Telcos.
• Ability to think strategically, innovatively and creatively using sound business judgment and quantitative skills
• Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, schedule tradeoffs and review opportunistic ideas with technical employees
• Outstanding presentation skills and the ability to articulate complex concepts to cross-functional audiences
• Proven leadership, problem solving and project management skills, with strong attention to detail
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; strong bias for action
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions
