Role title: Principal Agile Coach     Function: Digital & IT 
Location: Global (UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Turkey)


Context
By working together as one Vodafone and consistent with our strategy we are transforming Vodafone into a Technology Communications Company (Tech Comms); offering a range of products and services beyond connectivity to our customers to deepen our relationship with them. To harness our full potential, we need to change fundamentally how we work in certain areas of our business. We need to simplify and standardise how we operate to benefit from our unique advantages of scale and move to a more efficient and effective model to deliver our growth ambitions. 
Digital & IT is a newly emerging function within Technology that will be critical to this transformation on a global level. Within this newly created function, a new domain called Lean Portfolio Management & Transformation (LPM&T) has been established with the following mission:
•    We are the trusted Enablers of the Business, ensuring that the delivery roadmap of demand will be aligned with the Tech 2025 Strategy and our new Product Operating Model via managing demand, capacity and performance.
•    We are the drivers for increasing our delivery efficiency by providing data-based business insights and focusing on the re-usability and standardisation across all markets, also by involving our IT partners. 
•    We are role modelling the agile ways of working and implementing the SAFe methodology within Digital & IT by setting up an overarching LACE Structure. 

 

Role purpose:
The Agile Coach will work within the Lean Agile Centre of Excellence within the Digital & IT Lean Portfolio Management & Transformation team and will train and coach delivery teams and the LPM&T function in agile ways of working; the role will also provide training and coaching to other functions supporting Digital & IT as needed, e.g. Finance and our senior leadership team. In this role, you will help teams embrace SAFe Core Values, adopt and apply SAFe principles and implement SAFe practices. You act as facilitator and continuously engage in challenging the old norms of development to improve performance in the areas of quality, predictability, flow and velocity. 

Job Responsibility


Key accountabilities:
•    Manage and support the agile transformation and guide the organisation and teams through the agile journey and maturity growth by
o    Building and supporting each local market to increase their maturity against the 7 Key Scaled Agile competencies
o    Building and updating a comprehensive SAFe curriculum in collaboration with VF University and other LACE functions
o    Defining standards and creating playbooks for agile ceremonies, e.g. PI-Planning, daily stand-ups, Portfolio Syncs, etc.
•    Provide training and coaching on agile ways of working and adoption of SAFe to all relevant stakeholders and teams and advise on set-up of value streams for delivery
o    Train all levels of the organisation on agile principles, practices, roles, artefacts and ceremonies to maintain consistency of adoption and continuously improve performance 
o    Manage and facilitate knowledge sharing of best practices throughout the organisation and capture it in a useable, easily accessible format for all 
•    Manage and lead the usage of agile adoption measurements to evaluate and report the performance and adherence of the organisation on a regular basis
o    Data-driven assessment of agile maturity across markets 
o    Data-driven assessment of delivery performance 
•    Work with and guide delivery functions on an on-going basis
    Core competencies, knowledge and experience [max 5]:
•    Proven experience as Agile Coach with large delivery organisation, with demonstrable experience leading teams in adopting and implementing agile methodologies 
•    Safe Programme Consultant (SPC) Certificate
•    Practical experience in at least one IT domain (development, testing, DevOps, programme management)
•    Leader with the ability to develop and communicate the objectives, inspire, coach and motivate the team 
•    Ability to continue to monitor, learn and implement best practices via the agile community
•    Expertise in current & evolving Agile methodologies and tools 
•    Ability to understand, support and articulate complex Business change processes, data-sets and governance 

 

 Must have technical / professional qualifications: 
•    Commercial degree or equivalent
•    Safe Programme Consultant (SPC) Certificate
•    Knowledge and experience of working in agile frameworks, e.g. SAFe Agilist/SPC, Scrum, Kanban, Agile PM 
•    Experience in agile tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, MS Azure, or similar)
•    Knowledge and experience working in a LACE structure
•    Experience in complex organizations with distributed responsibilities or with an international environment
