Job Description

We are currently seeking a few Practicum Placement Coordinators to support our training doctors on .6 or .8 FTE.  Other arrangements could be considered.

We pride ourselves on our ability to prepare our future physicians in the medical, clinical and research skills for pursuing a vocation in any field of medicine. A key component of their journey is learning through placements in hospital and community environments, with rotating study in several disciplines.

This customer centric position supports the placements of students in GP clinics around the North Island. You will work with the students to understand their needs and look to facilitate placements in clinics which are suited to them.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Contacting students and clinics to organise placements
  • Collect and record student result documentation to deadline
  • Managing and building working relationships with existing clinics, as well as establishing new relationships with prospective GP clinics
  • Organising payments to clinics, students, and accommodation
  • Administrative support for the Board of Studies and the Board of Examiners
  • Administer, assist and coordinate student clinical placements and practical (clinical if required) examinations and processes delivered at the clinical Campus/Site/School/Early Childhood

You will be working alongside two other Practicum Placement Coordinators who are helpful and eager to share their knowledge and help each other to succeed.  This is a collaborative space where you will be supported by your colleagues.

  • Stakeholder Services: Understand your students and be focused on delivering to their needs.
  • Planning and Organising: Coordination is key; forward plan, prepare and manage multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Accounts/Figure Work: Comfortable around numbers as you generate Purchase Orders and Invoices; working alongside Finance
  • Continuous Improvement: Be focused on ensuring that we offer first-class service to our students, clinics, and academic partners
  • Build Relationships: Maintain existing relationships with clinics, explore and connect with prospective clinics and ensure that we have adequate placement options for our students.
  • Excel skills are essential; Adobe skills would be an advantage
