About this role

This is a National role within Chief Engineer team. The role is for Power policy manager role, a key decision maker across a range of subjects including NGA, Exchange based PoPs & FTTP deployment.  

This role is to conceive, specify and price innovative bespoke solution designs for the upgrade, refresh and optimisation of the physical and electrical infrastructure upon which customer service depends – in a way that makes sound business sense for Openreach and its customers.

You'll have the following responsibilities

  • Accountability for Power Policy within NGA, exchange based CP PoPs, FTTP including power compliance, electrical testing policy to IET BS7671 latest edition. Equipment specification, approval for use in the network. 
  • The onboarding of new suppliers, tender adjudication, witness testing.  
  • Accountable for Power accreditation, certification and Operational governance on with Power engineer and their Operational Managers
  • Production and maintenance of power policy documentation including ISIS, Technical development Papers, methods Statement etc. in support of Openreach power equipment installation and maintenance.
  • Production of equipment SORs and specification in support of power equipment procurement both exchange based and housed within street furniture.
  • 2nd Line Power fault investigation in support of FND power technicians and BTT Technicians.
  • Development of bespoke PoP solutions for CPs
  • Power expertise for EV installations
  • SME for all power related issues for Openreach
  • Interface with DNOs and other electrical suppliers to codify their requirements.

You'll have the following skills & experience

  • Power policy experience with Extensive NGA policy and compliance
  • ISIS documentation – Writing, input to other disciplines (fibre) and ownership of policies.
  • Auditing of both suppliers and direct labour staff from safety / electrical compliance 
  • Electrical Safety investigation to find RCA and to produce an action plan.
  • Proficient in the use of MS-Excel, MS-Word & MS-PowerPoint to create high quality written documentation. 
  • Ability to use all relevant support systems such as LLUMS, PIMMS, Advitium, SNAPe.
  • Ability to train, negotiate and present to Director level
  • Expert in the requirements of the electrical regulations across all Openreach plant with the minimum qualification of City & Guild Electrical Installation, BTEC ONC/HNC in Electrical Electronics, latest edition of City & Guild 2382, City & Guild 2391, 1st Aid, EAWR 1989
  • SME knowledge and understanding of the electrical and power industries, standards, regulations and options as it relates to Openreach products.
