Job Description

Our client, a local authority in South London, is looking for a Planning officer to independently manage a caseload of a number of planning applications.With excellent communication skills you'll assume responsibility for effective negotiation and resolution, to ensure outcomes that reflect the Council's wider positive objectives and policies of promoting high quality and innovative development while conserving the historic character of both Boroughs. Specific Duties and Responsibilities 1. Work on a range of development management case work including, preapplication advice, the processing of planning applications, Certificate of Lawfulness, prior notification and advertisement applications, ensuring that these are effectively and efficiently carried out to identifiable deadlines in a manner that is consistent with planning policy and is successful in meeting corporate targets and objectives. 2. Assess, negotiate and set out clear and robust recommendations in an accurate, well written officer report based on relevant planning policies and other material considerations. 3. Maintain an up­to­date knowledge of relevant legislation and to take a proactive approach to relevant changes in legislation. 4. Ensure that the electronic copy of the planning application, pre­application advice and correspondence is the master copy and that all electronic and paper copies of your own case work is uptodate before any decision is made. 5. Provide advice and guidance in response to planning best practice, procedure or policy within a legal/organisational policy framework. The ideal person for one of these role will hold an RTPI accredited planning qualification and be able to demonstrate knowledge of Development Management although direct experience is not essential, it would be desirable.Duration of contract 3 months rolling for an indefinite period.
