Accounts Payable
• Together with the Purchasing team, ensures the existence of complete and accurate vendor data
• Supports the selection and oversight of indirect vendors (landlords, service providers, etc.) together with the Director, Finance – Canada
• Oversight of the payables process, ensuring an effective system of internal control over all outgoing funds
• Engages with external thought leadership and resources to ensure best-in-class tools and processes for management of outgoing funds
Treasury and Cash Management
• Designs and monitors an effective system of internal control over day-to-day cash management activities, including monitoring and application of incoming funds
• Forecasts and monitors cashflow, liaising with the Manager, Treasury and Compensation and Director, Finance – Canada to manage liquidity
Financial Accounting and Reporting
• Ownership of the Canada general ledger and financial close process, including the development and oversight of effective controls and processes are in place for timely reporting and consolidation to US
• Leadership of the integration and amalgamation of current financial systems and processes, in addition to the onboarding and integration of additional systems and data (i.e. acquisitions) to support growth in Canada
• Ownership of subledger account details (e.g. AR, fixed assets, AP) and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts
• Coordinate with US Controller and Finance team to support consolidation of results (e.g. monitoring and elimination of intercompany accounts) and coordinate on matters pertaining to audit and other compliance matters
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Financial Analysis
• Supports Operations team with effective reporting on sales activity to support data-driven decision making
• Supports Operations team in accurate budgeting and forecasting by providing access to accurate and timely financial information, assists the Director, Finance – Canada in budgeting for non-branch overhead activity
• Works with Director, Finance – Canada and US Finance team to develop and maintain an effective management reporting hierarchy (e.g. branch/departmental structure)
Taxation and Compliance
• Ownership/oversight of Canadian tax compliance activity (Provincial and Federal), including:
• Accounting, reporting, filing, and payment of Provincial Sales Tax
• Accounting, reporting, filing, and payment of GST/HST
• Filing and payment of Employer Health Tax (BC) (in coordination with Manager, HR & Payroll)
• Filing and payment of Worker’s Compensation premiums (in coordination with Manager, HR & Payroll)
• Additional provincial tax oversight, as required, to support growth in Canada
• Coordination with US team to ensure accurate accounting recognition of applicable taxes in financial records
