Server Performance Architecture Lead and Principal

The Role:

As AMD grows we are adding outstanding technical leadership to help lead the team to explore, model and study performance architecture features for our award-winning server SoCs. As a passionate and dedicated Server Systems Performance Architecture team lead in our architecture division, this is an opportunity to work with performance architects from CPU Cores, Memory and IO Subsystem, SOC and system architects. Come up with features that improve server CPU performance on important server applications that matter to our customers and partners. Work with strategic partners to understand the market requirements and guide evaluation and exploration to expand market reach. This technical leadership role is all about maintaining AMD's technological leadership position!

The Person:

A technical leader across project and departmental boundaries and with a proven track record for sustained innovation. Provides consultative direction with senior management, coaches and mentors experienced staff. Represents AMD to the outside technical community, partners and vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set modeling methodologies and simulation infrastructure improvements to help in the feature evaluation process.
• Work closely with other team members to understand design architecture and to propose solutions to improve/enhance performance with given SoC/IP and markets.
• Deal with problems requiring groundbreaking approaches and champion innovation across the organization.
• Micro-benchmarking, analyzing and tracing various benchmarks, workload characterization, competitive analysis on various hardware platforms, identifying bottlenecks and proposing feedback and solutions for performance improvement.
• Make technical decisions that have a significant impact on product suites, go-to-market strategies and customer happiness.

Preferred Experience:

Preferred years of experience in industry depends on academic degree: Bachelors with at least 9 years, Masters with at least 7 years, or PhD with at least 5. These are bare minimums. Strong preference for much more experience!

• Outstanding foundation in CPU micro-architecture, modeling methodology, simulation framework.
• Experience with developing performance simulators and leading performance architecture teams.
• Strong expertise in systems architecture, cutting across CPU, memory, storage and I/O subsystems
• Strong exposure to popular server applications and micro-architectural sensitivities associated with them.
