Responsibilities
Microsoft Packaging Engineering is a critical function within our Packaging and Content organization. We are responsible for delivering packaging success across all Microsoft business lines which include Surface devices, Xbox gaming, HoloLens, and personal computing accessories.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to take up a key leadership role in the development and execution of packaging across all of Microsoft’s product lines from the expansive world of gaming with Xbox, to the premium and cutting-edge technology of Surface, anchored by a strategy of creating the most sustainable and accessible packaging on the planet.
You will lead a team of packaging engineers delivering packaging solutions and processes which realize the Microsoft product vision and our mission of empowering every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. The team is responsible for setting and delivering packaging performance, quality, reliability, and cost goals for all hardware development programs. We partner with internal and external teams all over the world to achieve these goals.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
People Management. Employ ‘Model, Coach and Care’ principles to nurture and grow a team of talented engineers to achieve their absolute best
Set and execute the vision and strategy for Engineering within the packaging organization
Partner with Design, Validation & Production teams to support development of package designs optimized for technical and consumer performance
Deliver flawless Microsoft product packaging development to launch; realize the product vision to deliver world class packaging solutions
Establish and grow partnerships with key functions outside of packaging. Drive cross-functional teams’ alignment to set qualitative and quantitative specifications for premium packaging experiences
Spearhead packaging relationship with the Packaging Sourcing team, helping influence sourcing strategy
Provide deep subject matter expertise to optimize designs and materials for performance, quality, and cost
Champion and implement new processes and procedures across the packaging organization to significantly elevate engineering rigor
Live and model our cultural values and leadership principles
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years experience in a fast-paced packaging leadership role
Proven track record of managing and developing a high-performing team of engineers, ideally in a distributed location model.
Technical proficiency in packaging engineering principles, processes, and materials.
Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant degree.
