Here's the exciting bit…a day includes

The Senior DBA will be the hands-on leader of a small technical team. They will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and performance of our current database estate, will play a pivotal role in defining our future operating model and will provide subject matter knowledge and expertise to the IT department. 


A typical day in this role includes:

•Ensuring a consistently high level of system availability and batch performance, through effective administration and management of the Oracle Database estate. 
•Identifying and delivering changes to optimise DB performance, this might be through tuning batch schedules, performing housekeeping or archiving
•Maintaining and upgrading the DB estate to ensure that we are running on supported and secure versions of code.
•Leading the identification and automation of repetitive tasks to create capacity within the team 
•Creating and managing pre-production environments
•Engaging in delivery projects
•Providing support and advice to other Infrastructure teams as well as developers and end users
•Undertaking audits of DB access in accordance with company security and audit standards
•Thinking about the future, using experience and knowledge to help design, architect and implement new technology and tools to support cloud migration and adoption
•Managing and mentoring a small team of DBAs, agreeing and prioritising workload and tracking delivery
•Participating in the on-call support rota (1 in every 3 weeks)


What you’ll need:
•6- 10 years Oracle database administration and engineering experience, with at least 3 of these in a leadership role

It is essential that you have strong, in-depth and demonstrable hands-on experience with the following technologies and / or applications:

•Oracle DB (version 11.2 onwards, RAC and Windows), 
•Oracle Middleware (version 11.2 onwards), 
•Oracle Enterprise Manager,  
•MS SQL, 
•AIX (version 7.1 onwards), 
•LINUX (version 7.0 onwards)
•DataGuard, 
•Job Schedulers (Superview, RMJ (Run-My-Jobs))
•Oracle Cloud
•Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle Financials, Oracle HCM, Oracle Business Intelligence, Retek

It is highly desirable that you have good knowledge and understanding of the following platforms and their deployment:

•Cloud infrastructure, including design & architecture of databases to run in a containerized environment, appreciation of CICD tools & ways-of-working, cloud migration and configuration.
