Integrated Mechanics is a privately owned company based in Otago and the West Coast and has a busy Westport workshop focused on meeting the diverse maintenance requirements of the local area.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager to join a dynamic environment with a well-respected, friendly team and plenty of growth opportunities.

Responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, you’ll be comfortable working both hands-on and at a strategic level. Success in this role means that the business runs as efficiently and effectively as possible, enabling us to deliver the service experience for our customers and team alike.

You will take ownership of business achievements, support business growth in the region, and have a strong drive to succeed.

This is a permanent position and needs someone committed to the business for the long term – it is an excellent opportunity with equity potential.

 

Job Requirements:

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate daily operations of the workshop
  • Drive initiatives in operations, create improvements in efficiencies, safety cost, and workforce capability
  • Develop and maintain customer, supplier & team relationships to ensure effective communication and working relations
  • Provide effective leadership, including setting expectations and managing workshop personnel to maximum productivity and performance
  • Ensure the branch is effectively staffed and structured to meet operational and customer requirements
  • Improve the operational systems, processes, and policies
  • Deliver targets within allocated budgets
  • Regular reporting and meetings with management
  • Drive continual improvement to lead a positive culture regarding health and safety

The successful applicant must have:

  • A relevant trade certificate or professional qualification with broad industry experience
  • Proven achievements in service delivery, cost management, team leadership, quality and process improvement
  • Planning & organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication, including relationship management & negotiation
  • Natural ability to lead and motivate others & skills in dealing with different dynamics and situations within a team
  • A flexible mindset to adapt quickly & find creative solutions
  • Willingness to be hands-on when required
