Engineering Operations is part of BBC Design & Engineering. The department actively helps BBC programme makers create and deliver great content across radio, TV and online.
Engineering Operations provides 24/7 support for hundreds of TV, Radio & music recording studios, edit suites, digital production & playout systems, and a wide range of underpinning technologies and infrastructure.
Our highly skilled Broadcast Engineers provide a critical engineering support service to maintain production and broadcasting of many BBC channels and platforms which include domestic TV, Radio, News, Parliament, Weather, World Service TV & Radio.
This support spans various sites in London, from the BBC headquarters at Broadcasting House to Millbank’s Westminster office, Maida Vale music recording studios, the production facilities aboard a fleet of Outside Broadcast vehicles and to numerous international offices.
This is an engineering role. Candidates will be required to demonstrate strong and wide-ranging technical knowledge along with the communication skills necessary to discuss technical issues with people at all levels.
It is essential that role holders understand the needs of the business and the pressures faced by production teams.
Operations Engineers are on the frontline, responsible for delivering high quality, rapid response support to ensure that equipment and systems used to create, capture, manipulate and distribute BBC content meet targets for availability, performance and safety. The role demands excellent analytical and fault finding skills and the ability to repair faulty equipment.
