Join us as an Operational Development Engineer, and you’ll join one of the most exciting and ambitious projects within EDF, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK.
At Hinkley Point C (HPC), we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
As an Operational Development Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the Operate the Plant Programme Manager and Operational Documentation Lead with the delivery of the Operating Documentation, in accordance with the overall HPC project schedule.
You will perform operational procedure technical reviews to ensure that the delivery of HPC meets operational safety & performance requirements. As an experienced Nuclear Engineer, you will mentor and help future operations recruits in their development.
Pre-Operations is split into the following programmes of work aligned to meet the current needs of the business:
Asset Management: covering equipment reliability, management of work, technical standards, maintenance strategy, Plant Service Inspection/In Service Inspection.
Operational Capability: in charge of staffing strategy and resourcing approach, competency development strategy, simulator training and instructors recruitment, being the intelligent customer to Nuclear Skill Alliance.
Technical and Safety: covering Radiation Protection arrangements, Emergency Preparedness, Fire Safety, Technical Coordination.
Operate the Plant: responsible for recruitment and training of control room operators and technicians, delivery of operating procedures, safety rules, field operators, handover processes and simulators.
Each programme is being delivered by a team of Operational Development staff led by a Programme Manager, working with stakeholders in other areas of the Project.
