The Role 

• To shape OPEN RAN Strategy, develop and deliver OPEN RAN Solutions from high level specifications to validated Products that can be deployed in the field.
• Drive development of General Purpose Processor (GPP) roadmaps in Intel, ARM and RISC V architectures, evaluate performance and opportunity to support Vodafone OpenRAN platform requirements 
• Drive development of HW acceleration roadmaps, evaluate performance and opportunity to support Vodafone OpenRAN platform requirements 
• Drive Digital HW platform vendors to implement open interfaces and SW solutions where technically feasible, remove proprietary dependencies inline with OpenRAN objectives
• Manage and maintain the High Level Design (HLD) for Vodafone’s OpenRAN HW platform, ensuring the necessary evolution to deliver against Vodafone’s strategic objectives, customer centric services, Opex and Capex targets
• Drive industry OpenRAN product development in line with Vodafone requirements and strategic objectives e.g. reference designs and white box products
• Interface to Industry forums/Partners to grow Vodafone´s Influence, this will include engagement with the Telecom Infra Project, ORAN Alliance and OpenRAN MoU Group, Suppliers, Markets and Group functions.
• Lead OPEN RAN System Integration Ecosystem to deliver OPEN RAN Roadmap, driving results across Product Integration, Network Services, Support and End-to-End Radio Product validation and successful deployment in the field.
• Interface to Industry forums/Partners to grow Vodafone´s Influence, Suppliers, Markets and Group functions.

Build OPEN RAN Strategy, deliver and drive Product Roadmap and the associated 3- year Plan, tracking the progress across all development stages and enabling successful Product integration and deployments.

• To deliver Vodafone OPEN RAN Strategy, participating on the development and delivery, from high level specifications to validated deployable solutions
• To Lead activities on the wider OPEN RAN “Network of Collaboration”, maximising Vodafone´s influence in the Radio space 
• To deliver Maintenance support in order to secure any Product issue can be managed timely and without relevant customer impact.
• To Drive Technical relationship with OPEN RAN vendors in the areas of product responsibility, Benchmarking, Roadmap and performance management. Support or lead RFQ based technical assessments.
• To ideate, drive and deliver Product Innovations that allow for Differentiation of Vodafone´s service to our customers as well as to reduce Total Cost of Ownership compared to traditional suppliers. 
• Actively participate in Industry Forums such as Telecom Infra Project, and ORAN Project to promote Vodafone requirements and position Vodafone as a Global leader/influencer 
• To ideate, drive and deliver Product Innovations that allow for Differentiation of Vodafone´s service to our customers as well as to reduce Total Cost of Ownership compared to traditional suppliers. 

 Apply if you have: 

• Extensive experience in mobile operator, silicon supplier environment in the fields of Radio Access Networks or communications fields.
•  Knowledge and deep knowledge of baseband platforms, General Purpose Processors, Intel, ARM, RISCV and others
• Knowledge of hardware acceleration options, FPGA, GPU and ASIC, platform security architectures and implementations. Environmental hardening for these solutions necessary to meet cellular deployment scenarios e.g. macro to small cell, indoor and outdoor
• Understanding and familiarity with the architectures and implementation requirements for different VNF and CaaS solutions 
• Experience of GPP technology evolution, life cycle management, and operational support models for commercial applications both centralised and distributed.
• Proven track record for successful development and delivery of new baseband technologies/final customer solutions, including successful lead of International Programmes in complex environments.
• Experience in OPEN RAN Technology: Driving roadmaps, performing trials or developing software.
• Technical expertise in General Purpose Processors, server/platform development and implementation in commercial products. 
• Technical expertise in Mobile Access Technologies and Standards incl. 2G/3G/4G/5G, Antennas, Repeaters, Site Infrastructure and Small Cells.
• Desired Experience in virtualised RAN platforms, vRAN,  Network Function Virtualisation (NFV), and associated HW and SW architectures and platforms
• Experience in delivering RFI/RFP/RFQ management and evaluation.
• Experience developing Radio Software/HW and contributing to large, complex projects
• Programme Management Skills
