The purpose of the Supply Chain Management function is to ensure effective delivery of parts and services to facilitate sustainable support for the UK TLCS-2 Programme, and other BDUK programmes as defined through BDUK strategy.  The Material Flow team has responsibility for developing forecasting estimates for an extensive Bill of Material for the RAF Chinook aircraft, component maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO); inventory maintenance; procurement and supplier management; and warehouse storage and parts distribution.  Within this successful unit we are currently looking to recruit a Supply Chain Inventory Modelling Technical Specialist to lead the sub-function and develop skills within the small team.

The Role:

The Inventory Modelling Specialist employed on the TLCS-2 Programme will work within Material Flow to lead a small team to range, scale and forecast the inventory required to support the RAF Chinook. The role is responsible to the Supply Chain Planning and Integration Manager to apply a concept to ensure stock is placed in the right location, at the right time.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the inventory modelling sub-function to develop a strategy to advance the capability of the team.
  • Supervise all routine tasks required to upkeep the forecasting tool/system.
  • Implement standardised processes to effectively support the Contracted Bill of Material for the RAF Chinook.
  • Supervise and mentor development of technical skills within the Inventory Modelling Team.
  • Ensure the tactical completion of the following areas:
    • Review data and align part number and NSN configurations with the Engineering Bill of Material.
    • Management of target stock levels at pre-assigned locations.
    • Integration with Asset Managers to upkeep data variables within the modelling tool.
    • Produce a quarterly forecast estimate for material to support Earned Value Management for TLCS-2
    • Maintain a metric to monitor forecast accuracy against the Contacted Bill of Material.
    • Employ root cause and corrective action techniques to progressively explore areas to improve performance of the inventory
    • Communicates with inventory employees to meet business goals
    • Develop cross-functional business relationships
    • Implement supply chain best practices during the completion of all assigned work.

Essential requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in business, logistics, systems engineering, supply chain management or similar
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience working with inventory management software and forecasting strategies
  • Advanced Data Analytical skills
  • Strong Communication Skills
