Job Description
The role of the Network Systems Engineer operates within the Network and Systems Operations Group and is responsible for the build, implementation and continuity of core operational systems and the data to day management and evolution of Operations Systems. You will come from a technical background within network management and ensure continued maintenance development of the systems utilised by Networks and Systems Operations.
How will I add value in this role?
- Support and enhancement of current and future infrastructure, systems applications and tools, adhering to agile work practices where possible.
- Assist with the inception of new products and services into Operations so these can be operationally supported efficiently within the OSS.
- The Network Systems Engineer is authorised to access and make changes on the live network.
- Be the technical prime within Network and Systems Operations when required to implement new or carry out changes on any of the Operational Systems and Applications.
- Carry out general user and system administration such as deploying patches and improving the security on the OSS platforms.
- Work with/or without the development team(s) reviewing platforms and making recommendations for system improvements followed by implementing any that are approved.
- Responsible for the development and administration of operational monitoring platforms and ancillary supporting systems, tools and applications.
- Responsible for creation and upkeep of support documentation for all related systems
- Responsible for the creation and ownership of the process to approve, create, review and remove users for systems that fall under your responsibility. This includes ensuring the process is adequate, undertaking periodic reviews, ensuring adherence to, and identifying changes within a continuous improvement framework.
- Be familiar with the Company’s Business Management System and Information Security Management System, and be aware of and adhere to your responsibilities within this quality framework.
- Approval and System Ownership
- Systems access will be reviewed and updated at regular intervals in-line with the evolution of business systems
- Ensuring the security and integrity of the network by adherence to the Company’s Information Security Policies and Procedures.
- The Network Systems Engineer is required to work on call as the on call escalation for the Network Operations Systems for one week in 6. This can involve out of hours contact initially by telephone with travel to office and remote sites a possibility.
- Manual report production / dashboard circulation / Ad-hoc data support.
About you
You will have experience of basic scripting and Linux with two years plus industry experience in a similar role.
