  • Lead WEL's reliability and performance
  • Grow and thrive in an innovative utility network
  • Full Medical, Life and Income Protection Insurance

About WEL Networks

At WEL Networks we're delivering innovative energy solutions which enable our communities to thrive, and keep the lights on 24/7.

With over 300 employees, owned by and working for the community, we've been serving the Waikato for 100 years, distributing power from the national grid, connecting over 160,000 people to electricity services.

Based in Hamilton, we play an essential role in the region's economic and social development by identifying and investing in new technologies that will modernise our network and future-proof our region. We're excited to be broadening our horizons as we diversify from a traditional lines company into a multi-utility.

About the role

As WEL begins to focus on new projects, we have recognised the need for an uplift in capability and capacity to deliver on our strategic goals. We believe the Energy-Tech sector is at the start of a growth curve, so we are now beginning to look for a number of skilled, innovative and enthusiastic individuals to join our team in supporting the company through this exciting new chapter.

As a Network Reliability Engineer you will lead asset reliability and performance within our Asset Management Team. WEL is in the early stages of implementing the ISO55001 Asset Management system and we are looking for someone that can drive these principles into our systems and processes.

You will also monitor the performance of network assets and target measurement, analysis, maintenance and asset replacement, to achieve greater asset reliability.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Support the ISO55001 Project Manager by leading the Asset Management team through this journey
  • Gather and interpret reliability and fault cause data to assist in preventative maintenance and asset replacement strategies
  • Create asset management plans and strategies for all major asset groups
  • Work collaboratively with and help guide the team in creating maintenance plans that align with the Reliability Centered Maintenance principles and methodology
  • Develop business cases to resolve network performance issues and assist with the updating of the Asset Management Plan

Skills and experience include the following:

  • A strong understanding of the principles underpinning ISO55001
  • 5-10 years' experience in strategically delivering predictive and preventative engineering in a power system environment
  • Proven reliability engineering know-how
  • Knowledge of the distribution network industry
  • An appropriate tertiary qualification
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities

Staff benefits

At WEL, we look after our people - from full medical, life and income protection insurance cover, and a variety of flexible working options, to the safest equipment and plenty of upskilling opportunities. We will also help you with relocation expenses when moving into the Waikato.

We are committed to making sure our people go home safe every day, and with a drug and alcohol free worksite we will require you to take a drug and alcohol test before you join us.

How to apply

At WEL we value diversity and innovation, and want extraordinary people with vision to join us. It is important to us that we get to experience a little bit of the 'real you' in your application. Apply now with your CV and please take the time in a cover letter to tell us what really floats your boat - what sets you apart, why you want to be a part of our team and some of your proudest achievements.
