Boeing Defence UK is looking for a Network Engineer. This role will involve contributing to the delivery of projects and sustainment of BDUK networking tasks and services in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously looking for improvements to ensure services operated are aligned to industry best practice and Boeing enterprise best practices.

  • Responding to events, requests and incidents logged in management systems.

  • Performing analysis of log files, systems, and network traffic.

  • Working to well-defined SLAs & KPIs.

  • Provide daily task management of Network team members.

  • Working closely with Architecture to help define strategy and resources to deliver on strategies and projects.

  • Be the team technical mentor with support and training.

  • Identify and raise technical challenges and limitations within the networking estate.

  • Provide network consultancy to colleagues within the organisation.

  • Represent the Network and Infrastructure team at meetings .

Desirable experience with:

  • Cisco CCNA, CCNP or equivalent,

  • Cisco Switching, and Routing

  • Resilient TCP/IP Network

  • Firewall (Checkpoint, Juniper, Palo Alto)

  • VPN technologies

  • F5 load balancer

  • Solarwinds or PRTG

  • OSPF and IP protocol experience ie SNMP, SMTP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, HTTP

  • Linux operating systems

  • VMware

  • Security appliance terminology

  • infoblox DNS/DHCP Management

  • System log management and network/server monitoring

  • Windows server technology

Competencies:                                            

  • Candidate should typically have 5 or more years of experience in a networking support role in an IT or telecommunications profession.

  • Able to communicate with and support teammates, customers, and suppliers in a professional manner.

  • Able to demonstrate an aptitude for troubleshooting, superior knowledge of network technologies,  server computing systems including operating systems, networks, hardware, software packages and utilities, computer control languages and commands.

  • Able to demonstrate proficiency in the use of standard applicable computing disciplines including change, configuration, problem, performance, and operational management. 

  • Able to demonstrate the ability to analyze, manage and maintain network topology, network devices, routers, firewall’s, servers and server delivery systems, subsystems, and components. 

Other information

  • You will be part of an on-call rota

  • Willingness and eligibility to undergo SC level clearance is required

  • Hybrid working environment
