The position

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced motor assessor to join our Motor Assessing Team. If you are looking for variety in your day this role is just that with responsibilities primarily in digital motor assessing. This is an excellent opportunity to make your next career move or for trade qualified panel beaters or spray painters who are interested in progressing their career beyond the shop floor and utilising their skills to make a move into the Insurance world.

We are looking for highly motivated and well-organised individuals who are inquisitive, thorough, and eager to learn and develop within this field. Working closely with the Operations Manager – Motor & Marine Assessing, this is an exciting opportunity to utilise your experience to review and interpret damage to vehicles both onsite with our clients and digitally.

This role is required to service the Christchurch area so you will need to be located within the Christchurch region where our office is located in Addington. You will be part of a friendly organisation who values the part their people play. Each day will be varied, within a fast-paced environment, bustling with people and projects and challenges.

In this role you will make an impact by:

  • Conducting digital/desktop assessments to establish cause and quantum of insurance claims
  • Compiling detailed replacement cost reports and photographic evidence Composing and submitting reports in a timely manner which summarise assessments and make recommendations for the acceptance/declinature of the claim, based on the policy
  • Requesting quotations as required and liaising with repairers in respect of works to be completed
  • Providing feedback to Suppliers in respect of their performance
  • Providing advice and support to all key stakeholders in respect of assessing & claims related issues
  • Providing excellent and professional customer service
  • Comply, promote and support Suppliers with our Health, Safety & Environmental Policy and statutory requirements at all times
  • Undertake peer reviews/audits weekly
  • Responding to verbal and written queries relating to your responsibilities and position
  • Providing excellent and professional customer service

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

  • Tertiary or Trade qualification in an appropriate discipline i.e. Automotive Panel Beating/Refinishing Trade
  • Working experience in the motor industry and/or panel beating or claims management within the general insurance industry (motor preferred)
  • Sound experience in auto body and mechanical repair procedures
  • Previous insurance experience is advantageous
  • I-Car qualifications
  • Demonstrated computer literacy i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, ability to learn new systems
  • Excellent communication skills for face-to-face, telephone and written communication
  • Enthusiasm and initiative, with the willingness to contribute to a dynamic, professional and positive team environment
