Description

We need to keep pace with rapid advances in technology and innovation in the Products & Platform Engineering Function.  We support this through Agile delivery methodology, and we have an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Senior Manager responsible for the management of our Agile Delivery team, for the Managed Mobility portfolio.

 

As the Agile Delivery Lead you will be accountable for the line management and career development of our teams of Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineers and Solution Train Engineers.  You will be responsible for the smooth running of the delivery of the product roadmap for Managed Mobility, and play a key role in building our agile delivery workforce and in developing the vision and strategies to upskill, coach and develop a workforce that is truly fit for the future. 

 

Finally, you will need to bring exceptional organisational skills to the role, especially in the field of workforce planning which will continue to grow in importance as our workforce becomes more flexible and adaptive.   

 

To be successful you will need to demonstrate strong influencing skills, be comfortable working with Senior Leadership Teams and have an adaptive leadership style where you are equally at home operating as a strategic/visionary leader and as a more affiliative, detail orientated leader. 

Job Responsibility

Key Competencies: 

  • People developer and coach – demonstrable experience of building and developing high performing teams 
  • Agile practitioner with clear appreciation and experience of agile scaling frameworks such as SAFe, Tribes and Squads etc.. 
  • Strong stakeholder manager with experience of working with and influencing Senior Leadership Teams, aligning with key business functions such as the relevant Product Lines of Business
  • A track record of delivering complex projects and programmes – ideally using both agile and waterfall delivery methods 
  • Excellent communication skills – demonstrable abilities of being able to distil complex concepts and ideas and representing them in an audience-appropriate manner
  • Strategic development – ability to influence and articulate strategy for a product portfolio, as well as the organisational strategy required to support Vodafone’s ambition as a tech company.
  • Organisational skills – focused on workforce planning, matching demand with supply and objectively making the right call to ensure that our workforce distribution supports value delivery.  


Essential skills:

  • Line management and all HR activities for the Agile Delivery Manager workforce
  • Agile delivery management standards, policies, events and processes: e.g. PI planning, Inspect & Adapt, Retros, use of Agile KPIs to inform continuous improvements in delivery
  • Accountable for the overall status of the portfolio, budget, resources, risks & issues. Leading the input for governance submissions and stakeholder forums.
  • Coaching, Training and Development of the ADM workforce (inc. upskilling) in line with VBPS policies
  • Manages the demand to capacity of the portfolio, including shared resources such as Service Design & Business Analysts
  • Agile Delivery Management professional accreditation/s – e.g. SCRUM master, Product Owners, SAFe for Teams, SAFe for Leaders etc… 
  • Project Management professional accreditation/s – e.g. PRINCE2, APM, IPMA, PMI
