Job Description

The Opportunity 

Transport for NSW is currently recruiting for an experienced Manager Digital Communications & Engagement to join the Office of the Transport CIO section of IT for Transport branch within our Corporate Services Division.

 

We are looking for someone to undertake this role as a maternity leave contract beginning in March 2022 for up to nine months. This is a full-time fixed term position based out of our new Macquarie Park office with, flexible working arrangements available.

 

The primary purpose of the role is to provide strategic direction and execution on the development and delivery of digital content to engage clients and effectively communicate the branches announcements, services and initiatives. The role will also support the Information Technology teams by working with stakeholders to understand their needs and to design a communication plan to ensure the successful delivery of outcomes across the cluster.

 

The role operates with a high level of autonomy and is expected to determine key operational objectives within the limits of delegated authority. The role is accountable for the delivery of assigned work and is responsible for the quality, integrity and validity of the service provided. The role defers to the manager on issues that have a significant political impact or issues outside of financial delegation.

 

On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for, but not limited to:

 

  • Lead the strategic implementation and management of effective content for the branch, clients and stakeholders, ensuring best practice methodologies and systems, processes and guidelines are applied to support optimisation of digital products
  • Drive the development and implementation of effective digital communication strategies, solutions and standards to meet the organisation’s strategic communication priorities and challenges
  • Lead stakeholder engagement, negotiate and influence outcomes, manage issues and provide expert advice on best practice so that content is fit for purpose and meets desired outcomes
  • Effectively manage performance and resources in a manner that meets requirements and optimises outcomes including planning work priorities and ensuring budget and resources are used effectively to maximise value and minimise reputational risk
  • Maintain awareness of government obligations, emerging issues, risks and opportunities impacting digital communications to identify, pursue, evaluate, recommend and deliver innovative solutions that optimise outcomes
  • Collaborate with other teams to provide best practice digital and content advice and to ensure that customers and stakeholders receive a seamless and integrated communications service.

This role has direct reports both ongoing and labour hire.

 

About You 

To be successful in these roles you will need:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated, relevant, equivalent professional experience.­ Proven ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Experience in creating digital content with a good understanding of information architecture and user experience principles for content-rich websites.
  • Understanding of web accessibility requirements and monitoring compliance.
  • Act as the conduit to the divisional communications and Corporate Communications teams ensuring effective information flow and adherence to the relevant guidelines and procedures.
  • Demonstrate the five ways of leading behaviours to deliver organisational outcomes for our customers, our people and communities for the greater good.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the government agenda, as well as new digital trends and tools and applying them when appropriate in an environment which is subject to rapid change.
  • Maintain momentum on long-term strategic projects while continuing to manage daily priorities ensuring the team is agile, responsive and resilient in a changing environment with competing demands and limited resources.
  • Liaise with a wide variety of customers and stakeholders, ensuring appropriate content development responsibilities and approaches given different audiences with varied needs.

 

Salary and Benefits 

The salary for this position is Transport Grade 9 ($138,670 - $155,309) pro rata plus 10% superannuation and annual leave loading.
