Medlab South Laboratory (a division of Asia Pacific Healthcare Group) is the provider of pathology services to the people of Nelson and Tasman by way of our long-term contract with the Nelson/Marlborough District Health Board. Medlab South Laboratory provides pathology services to the patients of Nelson/Marlborough Hospital Clinicians, General Practitioners, Medical Specialists, and midwives.

The relaxed lifestyle, the flourishing wine and gourmet food industry in Nelson are enjoyed by both locals and visitors alike.We are currently seeking applications for a part time qualified Technician with a current APC to join our team in the Nelson Microbiology Department. A technician with microbiology experience is preferred; however, consideration will also be given to training someone with the right skills, preferably with a science background. The position is 64 hours per fortnight.

To be successful in this role you will need:

The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines

• A team focus with initiative, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and possess the ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment
• Excellent attention to detail, with good record keeping skills
• The ability to work independently, while in a supported role
• Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practicing Certificate are advantageous, but not essential.
• Fully vaccinated for Covid-19
