We are currently seeking 2 x Mechanical Design Engineers to support the Simulation Solutions & Services Engineering Department located in Burgess Hill for the design and delivery of display products for programs from initial concept through to installation.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who are looking to develop their career. You will have the opportunity to become specialists or subject matter experts within the team which includes design and configuration of large-scale optical components, also, at system or project engineer level working with multiple disciplines across teams based in UK and USA.
Primary Responsibilities:
Satisfy customer requirements for design, quality, safety, schedule, and budget.
Production of required project documentation with accuracy to include assembly drawings, detailed manufacturing drawings, bills of materials and technical documentation in accordance with company quality procedures.
Design of large fabrications and welded structures an advantage. Also composites such as fibreglass and honeycomb.
Liaise with third party manufactures and suppliers from quotation through to build and inspection as required to support the Operations team.
Organise and contribute to the peer review process.
Establish a framework for necessary contributions from various departments and facilitate their collaboration.
Produce and present design reviews.
Construct Design Approach Reviews at the pursuit stage.
Attend and present at both internal and external customer design reviews as required to support the program or product.
Basic Qualifications:
Knowledge of BS 8888 design standards and design for manufacturing experience.
Proficient use of parametric CAD software to create detailed 2D and 3D designs for complex projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
Educated to degree level within a related Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Product, Aeronautical) or in the absence of a degree, a relevant qualification or experience.
Experience in the use and application of SolidWorks to perform tasks from concept through to documentation required for manufacturing, assembly and installation.
