My client has been established for over 40 years and is one of the forerunners in the entertainment industry, working with an extensive list of high profile, household names across the Globe. They have experienced considerable growth throughout the years and due to this continued growth, they are now seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis.

Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be required to work to tight timescales and produce imaginative and safe product solutions in a timely cost-effective manner, effective and safe designs for structures, mechanisms and electrical and hydraulic drive trains and clear and accurate working drawings to efficiently convey these designs to workshop employees and external companies.

The specific responsibilities for this requirement are;

• To undertake all aspects of design including concept generation, numerical analysis and detailed engineering.

• Originate ideas for design solutions, based on sound engineering principles and with reference to the company's prior art.

• To meet the specific requirements of diverse project-based applications.

• Carry out engineering calculations to analyse problems and validate solutions, including stress and deflection of structures, power and torque of drivetrains, the inertia of machinery and mechanisms.

• Work closely with project managers, colleagues, and external suppliers to ensure the timely and practical fulfilment of the client's requirements and internal demands.

• Produce drawings, parts lists and supporting calculations in a timely and efficient manner.

• To understand the project brief as directed by the Senior Engineer and Project Manager and help to determine how the brief can be converted into a finished project.

• To maintain up to date records of drawing registers and design changes.

• To work with suppliers to purchase equipment of a suitable specification.

• To provide information and guidance as a project progresses to enable satisfactory manufacture, installation and commissioning.

• To develop Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Safe Systems of Work as required, ensuring that the products designed and manufactured minimise risks to those installing and operating them.

• To ensure that necessary warning signs and instructions are fitted to products.

• To provide service schedules and service manuals as required.

• Travel to sites to undertake surveys or assist with installation or commissioning.

• To assist in the development of proposals and quotations for new business.

• Keep abreast of changes and developments within the industry.

The ideal candidate for this excellent opportunity will possess the following skills and experience;

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Engineering Technology, or other related engineering courses)

• A high level of computer literacy, particularly computer-aided design. (e.g. knowledge and experience of using AutoCAD, 3D CAD

• The ability to produce detailed drawings.

• You will need at least five GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades A-C; and two or three A levels (or equivalent), which may include maths and physics

• Excellent technical knowledge

• Being thorough (high attention to detail) and focused

• The ability to produce technical reports and documents

• Excellent presentation skills

• Keen and analytical

• Good problem-solving skills and a creative approach for new ideas

• Self-motivated, with the ability to work alone and good team working skills

• Excellent communication and organisational skills

• Work well under pressure

• Good commercial awareness

• Amicable and responsible

• A flexible approach to working

• Possess the right to work in the UK

• Current UK drivers licence and able to attend some meetings out of normal office hours

This is a full time position, Monday to Friday, covering a 40 hour working week. Worknig hours are flexible as long as core hours are covered. The position would be based in North West London.
