As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will be reporting to the Mechanical & Electrical Discipline Lead within the Review & Acceptance Branch of the JDO, contributing to the review and acceptance of design engineering queries raised by site Contractors on the Pools, Tanks, Liners and Steelworks (PTLS) scope. This scope covers mainly the design rework during manufacturing and construction phases of the reactor containment liner, the reactor pool and the spent fuel pool, the different large tanks and the secondary steelworks installed across all buildings
Your focus will be on the mechanical design discipline, and will be interfaced with several parties, such the site Contractors (composed of main suppliers and sub-suppliers), Construction teams, Quality teams, Project Management teams, or Design teams (embedded within the JDO organisation on site, or in back office).
Your main responsibility will include:
• Responding to General Queries, Non-Conformances, Change Request, and Exemption Requests originating from the Contractors on site, with the support of the Responsible Designer or site Experts when needed.
• Ensure resolution and closure of Design Open Points.
• Provide adequate oversight to ensure the Nuclear Safety requirements are met.
• Assesses technical risk and subsequently addresses this risk.
• Report operationally to the PTLS Engineering Lead.
• Experience in the mechanical design and welding engineering.
• Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience applying multi-disciplinary technical knowledge within the nuclear industry.
• Knowledge of the construction / installation industry.
• Ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders, particularly those in a site environment.
• Ability to work independently, be pro-active, report on and escalate relevant issues.
