Role and Responsibilities
Development of product and end user application/specifications and data, including product testing requirements.
Support existing manufacturing lines and new product introduction (NPI).
Participates in concurrent engineering efforts, critical design reviews, and value engineering initiatives as growth opportunities.
Develop preliminary layout of the manufacturing and assembly lines in line with process and Production Engineering department.
Develop, document and improve required tooling and associated test jigs, in a timely manner, by liaising with the design and manufacturing teams, to guarantee product quality and operational productivity and efficiency.
Manage and review all operational product and process documentation and ERP system information changes (including bills of materials, product routings and design change requests).
Production support element will also include review and update of any production related documentation.
Lead manufacturing system analysis, to ensure systems are lean and delivering the design intent, continually improving the systems to add maximum value to the business.
Manage and maintain the actions on the non-conformance database.
Lead Engineering activities for Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DfMA) to ensure products can be manufactured and assembled in the most efficient way possible.
Understanding of problem-solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) - i.e. thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Gage R & R, control charts, Pareto charts, etc.
Act as a liaison between Manufacturing, Testing, Design teams, plus other areas of the business including Suppliers
Liaising with all relevant departments throughout the design cycle to ensure a smooth and efficient introduction of products to manufacture.
Provide support and back-up to Production Engineering for site and plant maintenance including environmental issues.
Liaise with NPI during various build stages to report back to engineering any ‘pickups’ such as problems or improvements that can be made.
Manage, maintain and distribution of PLC database actions.
Review projects at the design stage to capture solutions for manufacturing considering Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFMA).
Hands on build / repair to support to all areas of the business.
Development of functional test sets and refresh of existing equipment.
Development of supplier test and fault-finding capability.
Liaison for development of PATP with Engineering / NPI to provide a suitable solution that meets production capability and customer requirements.
Creation of test leads, jigs and fixtures for production environment.
Creation or modification of Layouts, Drawings, CAD data and BOMs.
Creation & maintenance of Engineering Change Notes.
Liaising with all relevant departments throughout the design cycle to ensure a smooth and efficient introduction of products to manufacture.
Responsible for ‘Release to Production’.
Ensure all safety regulations and statuary requirements are met at all times.
Working to companywide Processes and Work Instructions and ensuring AS9100 is understood and being adhered to at all times.
Key Skills
Ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure in a busy environment with limited information (essential).
Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision and interact with staff members at all levels within the business (essential)
Excellent understanding of an Engineering / Manufacturing environment.
Must be computer literate: Microsoft excel, word, project etc. (essential)
Must be CAD literate: SolidWorks, SW Composer, AutoCAD (essential)
Qualifications
HNC / HND minimum in a related subject (essential)
5 years minimum in a previous related role (desirable)
