Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Perform and manage month-end reconciliations on a timely basis to comply with monthly and quarterly reporting timelines
- Review and analyse financial results on a monthly and quarterly basis to assess reasonability and fluctuations of investments and income
- Review and prepare, where necessary, manual journal entries to the General Ledger with appropriate analysis and supporting documentation
- Review and prepare detailed month-end and year-end working papers with appropriate analysis and supporting documentation for financial reporting and audit purposes
- Timely review and preparation and submission of all the regulatory investment reports.
- Manage the year-end audits by providing information requested and responding to questions from external auditors
- Perform and manage the preparation of complex financial statements disclosure notes as they relate to investments, including assessing the impact and application of any new accounting policies
- Assist in the automation of investment related processes
- Review and perform the impairment analysis on the Group’s investments, as needed which includes coordinating the valuation of assets including real estate/property
- Lead and assist with the implementation of IFRS 9 and 17
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
- Recognised professional designation in accounting (CPA)
- Minimum of 3-4 years of post-qualification work experience in Accounting, Audit or Finance in financial services industries
- Strong proven work experience in the application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Working knowledge of IFRS 9 would be an asset
- Hands-on experience in Great Plains would be an asset
- Knowledge of Power BI would be a nice to have
- Solid team player and be willing to always support internal team members
- Proven track record working in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment and able to adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines
