Job Description Summary

A new role within GIA Strategy Risk & Support, the Manager Insights Data Analytics role reflects an ongoing investment in data science tools and techniques by Group Internal Audit. The role holder will work closely with the Strategy, Risk & Operations leadership team and plays an integral role in enabling Group Internal Audits (GIA) to deliver a leading MI, reporting and insights capability.

Job Description

At Lloyds Banking Group, we’re driven by a clear purpose - to Help Britain Recover. Across the Group, our colleagues are focused on making a difference to customers, businesses, and communities.

Our brands, our services and our business span every aspect of banking and finance, including some of the biggest names on the UK's high streets. That gives us a big responsibility to support the UK economy, with a clear strategy to put customers first - and achieve our vision of becoming the best bank for customers.

Working with other data colleagues, this role will contribute to the application of data analytics and advanced data science techniques to GIA’s own business processes and objectives (including the process of managing internal audits, operational and strategic reporting, insights generation and quality assurance). This includes data and MI visualisation and automation at the simpler end of the spectrum to advancing the use of machine learning, robotics, process mining and other tools to address business needs in GIA. You'll work closely with GIA’s Systems and Data colleagues, and GIA’s Audit Analytics team to ensure the technology roadmap for GIA incorporates appropriate tools and capabilities to support the data analytics and data science strategic priorities.

The role will mainly be hands-on delivery and creative problem solving, including the application of appropriate SDLC controls to our analytics tools development, and quality control within GIA’s data domain. However, the ability to see the bigger picture and think strategically will be needed to help senior colleagues in the wider team set out the analytics roadmap for the function. You'll work seamlessly with GIA’s Audit Analytics team to co-develop tools and utilities on our Audit Analytics & Reporting Platform (AARP), and with the Systems & Data and Atlas development team to support the controlled delivery of an integrated technology & data analytics capability for GIA.

Want to know more about what you'll be doing...?

  • Develop new and maintain existing web applications developed by the Insights Data Analytics team. Work with other GIA teams to find opportunities to increase automation and efficiency through the development of new applications.
  • Work with GIA’s data owners to implement and handle appropriate operational processes and controls to manage GIA’s critical data elements.
  • Work with the Reporting, MI and Insights teams to find opportunities to strategically improve the functions reporting capability, removing manual data processing and EUCs wherever possible. Work with the Quality Assurance team to identify and deliver opportunities to use data analytics and advanced data science techniques to detect and prevent quality issues in Audit and Investigation activities.
  • Support the development and implementation of GIA’s strategic priorities, to manage the implementation of change which impacts GIA’s core data, coordinating and assessing the prioritisation of contending demands, and taking responsibility for the development and implementation of specific deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships across Group Audit and engage cross functional stakeholders to optimise business results.
  • Demonstrate core LBG values and behaviours as an active team member

Here's what we're looking for...!

  • Experience in developing and deploying web based applications, ideally using the Django framework.
  • Experience with JavaScript and python. Knowledge of SQL server or data wrangling in python is required to support data pipeline maintenance and creation. An interest in machine learning techniques and an understanding of how they can be used to solve business problems is desirable.

So what can we offer you in return?

We'll reward you with excellent benefits, personal development and a career that’s enriching and full of opportunity!

As well as a competitive salary, you’ll receive:

  • A Discretionary Performance Share Award
  • Generous pension contribution
  • 30 Days leave plus bank holidays
  • A flexible cash pot (4% of base salary) to spend on benefits
  • Private health cover
  • Share Schemes

In return for your expertise, you'll enjoy our total dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We'll help you perform at your best today, so you can fulfil all your potential in the future.

We're committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve, and to building an inclusive environment where all our colleagues can be themselves and succeed on merit. We support the principles of agile working and are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We're an equal opportunity employer and deeply value diversity within our organisation.

We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please contact us to request accommodation.

At Lloyds Banking Group, we're driven by a clear purpose; to help Britain recover. Across the Group, our colleagues are focused on making a difference to customers, businesses and communities. With us you'll have a key role to play in shaping the financial services of the future, whilst the scale and reach of our Group means you'll have many opportunities to learn, grow and develop.

We're focused on creating a values-led culture and are committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve. Together we’re building a truly inclusive workplace where all of our colleagues have the opportunity to make a real difference.
