Position Description:

Purpose:

Our objective is that in five years, Pearson will be one of the major players in the workforce development market, reaching tens of millions of enterprise and individual learners globally, generating more than Â£1bn in revenue and growing rapidly , with the potential to reach many multiples of that revenue in the years to come. The Workforce Skills business division will be the driving force in realizing this ambition.

The HR generalist will be report to the VP HR Workforce Skills and be responsible for workforce planning, performance and absence management, talent pipeline planning, succession planning, translation of policies and strategies. The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of UK Labour laws and be confident to manage employees’ queries in accordance with their employment contract. The role is responsible to incorporate Pearson’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles in everything we do.

Key Accountabilities:

HR Generalist Responsibilities

Responsible for all aspects of human resources work in areas including payroll, benefits, compensation, employee relations, legislative landscape, organization development, change management and people management. Must have a strong working knowledge of TUPE processes.

Annual Salary Reviews / Off cycle Salary Reviews / Bonus Plan Administration

Support the VP HR with reward data readiness ensuring all employee information is accurate and updated in the HR Fusion systems

Run reward data reports to quality check employee data, salary information, grades, bonus details, etc. and complete ASR/bonus payment validation exercise

Help/ Post any related promotions / contractual changes within MYHR for the shared service team to create letters

Provide related support in terms of data analysis, Fusion process to the Line Manager

Employee Relations

Operating with discretion and judgement, HR manager will provide primary support and lead on employee relations and compliance issues as they arise

Address employee requests and potential issues (e.g. grievances)

Attend grievance meetings as required/ proxy the HR VP if required

Work closely with the business to deliver/close any PIP, disciplinary cases

Consult with staff and managers regarding employee relations issues and initiate action plans to address and resolve issues

Coach and advise staff and managers on matters regarding conflict resolution, relationship building, and effective communication

Coordinate with legal counsel and business boards as needed with regard to employment-related legal matters and policies

Assist managers with the preparation of performance assessments; Following performance assessment program including dissemination of communications, coordinating with training team on staff and manager training and resources, and 100% completion rate with HRBP Manager.

Assist with and advise managers on disciplinary action procedures, coaching, counselling, and documentation

Workforce Planning and Op Planning

Support HRBP and business leaders with staffing and promotion needs during the annual budgeting process

Support HRBP to collate/ update employee data for budgeting purposes

Work with HRBP and provide inputs to Finance for hiring forecast for next year during the Op Planning exercise

Employee Engagement

Relationship Management with HR Shared Service – Pearson People Services (PPS)

Candidate Profile

-Significant experience within an HR Generalist Role

-Effectively uses data to provide insights that drive the strategic people plan.

-Strong track record and knowledge of all UK HR legislation including TUPE process.

-Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships and communicate with staff at all levels of an organization.

-Great attention to detail, ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

-A flexible approach to work, professionalism, and enthusiasm to succeed in the field of HR management

-Ability to maintain confidentiality

This role will be hybrid working from home and at our office at 80 Strand, London.
