New technology is driving the evolution of the travel ecosystem providing airlines with opportunities to reach into other areas of the transportation industry that it could not before. Air Canada is taking the lead to shape a modernized cost-effective ecommerce shipping using technology and partnerships such as first and last mile logistic providers, pick-up and drop-off retail companies, and online courier aggregators. The goal is to leverage Air Canada’s vast network to provide ecommerce delivery services to domestic and international online retailers.

 

The Rivo team is looking for an experienced individual that will lead the building of forecasting, revenue, capacity, and optimization plans for the ecommerce network. In this role, you will work directly with the Director, Global ecommerce to lead and shape the way Rivo will operate to compete against domestic and international competition in the ecommerce shipping industry. You will also be leading a team to build and implement scalable integration processes offering simple and efficient onboarding, enabling friction-free experience across all channels, and helping Rivo achieve revenue growth and profitability.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the budget and forecasting activities for Rivo within all departments collaborating with our financial teams

Identify opportunities for ecommerce revenue, growth, profit maximization, and network improvements through pricing strategies and tactics both domestic and international

Lead pre-planning, strategy development and communication to ecommerce customer bids/RFPs and other opportunities

Understand and apply transportation/warehousing optimization techniques including, flight planning, mode selection, freight consolidation, load building, efficient surface routing, and pool distribution

Lead capacity planning activities, ensuring delivery against operational requirements which optimize transportation/warehousing efficiency and costs

Negotiate pricing contracts with transportation partners 

Provide leadership to manage the reporting and data collection within the Engineering department

Work with cross functional teams to develop network and revenue optimization initiatives and business cases

Lead end-to-end network and capacity initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.

Build and work with surface partners to optimize First Mile and Last Mile (FMLM) 

Build and optimize middle mile Air to Air (A2A) plans for new station launches

Develop the network strategy for peak season where the delivery capacity is increased

Lead the development and enhancement of ecommerce pricing models, update models with recent financial and cost analysis

Prepare analyses to determine pricing and financial summaries for new business opportunities, contract renewals and repricing requirements for current clients

Conduct detailed analysis of ecommerce supply chain costs and service and build and execute supply chain models

Analyze data on SQL, Tableau, and Excel

Define metrics to measure and monitor supply chain performance, inbound flows, capacity, and transportation metrics

Work with technology teams and product managers to develop new tools and systems to support the growth of the business

Lead both internal and external projects to bring modern distribution capabilities to market. Understand the business needs and develop use cases to support new capabilities to facilitating integration to build up the distribution ecosystem

Stay current on industry innovations and emerging technology to better understand the ecommerce landscape and identify new opportunities across various market and new ways to distribute and sell Rivo products efficiently

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years in consulting, ecommerce transportation logistics or similar background with a focus on revenue, capacity, and pricing

University or College degree required; preferably with additional professional designation; PMP an asset 

Experience with budgeting and must have a strong financial acumen

Significant experience with the ecommerce courier landscape and/or airline cargo

Prior people manager experiences a must. Proven experience in leading multiple team members with different priorities

Strong understanding of different ecommerce markets globally   

Significant experience with contract negotiations, from beginning stages through final execution

Significant experience leading cross functional teams to deliver on time and under budget results 

Excellent analytical and data skills, able to dive deep into data to identify opportunities and collaborate with team to build models and segments; results oriented

Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

Able to work under pressure and meet timelines with minimum supervision

Strong team player, takes the lead when required and is supportive when needed

Creative and forward thinking; innovative with good knowledge of trending distribution practices in the industry

Attention to detail and quality

Problem solver

Motivated self-starter who can work with minimal direction and supervision

Microsoft Office; Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, and Power Point

Available for travel
