Job Description

Role Purpose:

The Maintenance Fitter reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for fault finding and proactively repairing machinery as well as preventative maintenance which enables the production team to produce high-quality products.

Standard hours of work: 7.00 am to 3.30 pm Monday to Friday with 6 hours on Saturday morning.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality maintenance fitter services to maintain and repair a range of process equipment and machinery
  • Carry out preventative maintenance duties and checks as prescribed in MEX work orders issued to you
  • Report back on work undertaken and conditions found as required
  • Identify any parts needed and communicate usage of parts to the appropriate person
  • Undertake project and improvement tasks as requested
  • Support production and site activities to optimize productivity and minimize downtime
  • Ensure execution of planned maintenance works align with plant and resource availability
  • Timely responses to all breakdown calls, using fault finding skills to evaluate the cause of the breakdown and implement the best solution to rectify the breakdown
  • Ensure all tasks are conducted in a safe manner, and that no hazards are left untended
  • Supervise external contractors when on site
  • Ensure compliance with site quality and food safety programs

To be successful you will have the following:

  • Knowledge of business operations including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Understanding of food manufacturing processes and hygiene requirements
  • Understanding of safety systems and processes including risk assessments, incident reporting, and planned inspections
  • Fitter, Fitter – Turner, Fitter - welder, or Fitter/Machinist experience is desirable
  • Welding experience is desirable while having knowledge of pumps and bearings
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to maintenance issues
  • Planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills
  • Reliable, motivated, punctual, and can work autonomously
  • Have a strong work ethic and be a team player
  • Be physically fit and healthy for work
