Join us as a Mainframe Systems Operations Analyst

• The Mainframe Operation’s Analyst role will form part of a team responsible for providing monitoring and troubleshooting on the NWG Mainframe estate on a 24×7 basis 
• You’ll be supporting the platforms’ operational stability and technology performance, including maintaining any system’s utilities and tools provided by the platform

What you'll do

You'll form part of a team responsible for providing monitoring and initial triage on the NWG global network estate on a 24×7 basis. You’ll be contributing to and supporting the delivery of a robust production management service for relevant infrastructure platforms.

Please be advised this is a 24x7 shift role and we require applicants to be able to commit to shift work and be located on site at our Edinburgh location full time.

Your role will involve:

• Contributing to the platform risk culture, making sure that risks are discussed and understood at every step, and effectively collaborating to mitigate risk
• Contributing to the planning and execution of work within the platform and the timely servicing of feature development requests from cross platform initiatives, and supporting the delivery of regulatory reporting
• Participating and seeking out opportunities to simplify the platform infrastructure, architecture, services and customer solutions, guarding against introducing new complexity
• Building relationships with platform, domain and relevant cross-domain stakeholders
• Making sure that controls are applied and constantly reviewed, primarily against SOX, to ensure full compliance to all our policies and regulatory obligations

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be a very capable communicator with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to colleagues and work well as part of a team. You will need to be highly organised, disciplined and adaptable with excellent communication skills. You must be willing to own and escalate operational incidents, as well as collaborate with Operational support teams, Service Delivery and Recovery Management through to incident resolution.

We’ll also look to you to demonstrate:

• Experience and strong understanding of CA-7 and Critical Path Batch suites as well as an understanding of CICS, DB2, MQ, Websphere
• Experience of working in an operational environment managing batch suites and troubleshooting mainframe issues
• Commitment to working 24×7 shift pattern at on site locations
• The ability to thrive under pressure and have the determination to continuously improve service Good analytical skills and an informed, evidence-based approach

• Knowledge of relevant industry standard toolsets and processes to drive up customer service within an IT environment
• An understanding of operational principles
