Linux Systems Engineer â€“ IT Cloud Services

The Role:

This position focuses on using infrastructure resources to solve engineering problems and helps to define the next generation of engineering workload execution using on-prem and cloud resources. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge on the technology offered in different cloud providers. This is a great opportunity to liaison with other technical teams to come up with technical and tactical solution to address future needs both on-prem and in cloud. This role can be based from Austin, TX, Santa Clara, CA, or Markham, Ontario.

The Person:

This person will need to have broad scope of skills and experience to understand issues/limitations and seek innovative ways to solve them. Issues and limitations fall in a wide range of areas such as many flavors of Linux / Unix (RedHat, Ubuntu, Centos etc..), storage (performance and permissions), job scheduler (IBM LSF) and general information security to secure intellectual properties.

As technology is changing, the candidate will need new thinking on cloud adoption for engineering workload, cost optimization, simplification on processes to support existing and new engineering needs.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• • Experience with Cloud Services (Azure,GCP,AWS, etc...)
  • Expert perl experience (Linux environment)
  • Expert shell scripting experience (sh/bash)
  • Advanced Python scripting experience
  • Linux Configuration Management (Cfengine, Puppet, Chef etc..)
  • Familiar with CVS and GIT repositories (from command line)
  • Ability to examine unfamiliar code and determine purpose/results

Key/Critical OS Skills:

• •  Advanced to Expert RHEL administration and troubleshooting
            - including all common services (sendmail, cron, X, autofs, syslog-ng, pam, ntp, etc...)
  • Advanced PXE/kickstart/satellite experience
  • Working knowledge of network troubleshooting (OS level)
  • Application troubleshooting experience

 Bonus Skills:

• • Experience developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) / Terraform / Ansible / Cfengine3 / Packer
  • Experience with containers/Kubernetes
  • Experience with Centrify and NIS (ADNIS)
  • Familiar with hardware configuration/troubleshooting (BIOS and RAID config)
  • LSF Grid environment experience
