Total annual pay range from £39,659 to £47,173

Duties and Responsibilities:

This is an important role ensuring that the correct trailers are moved to the required position to ensure the National Distribution Centres can operate effectively and in line with requirements of outgoing and incoming stock. This role requires good organisational and communication skills to ensure this is met and also holds a variety of responsibilities as you will be required to support the transport operations office. Effective relationships and basic negotiating skills will need to be developed and maintained with the National Distribution Centre operational and transport teams.

Job Requirements:

In this role you will promote the Partnership brand through professional and courteous manner toward other road users whilst delivering to our network of shops, service buildings and distribution centres. You will support the National Distribution Centre warehouse operation by providing trailers within agreed service level agreements (SLAs) whilst achieving department specific key performance indicators (KPI). You will support and champion best practice within the branch whilst working towards an continuous improvement environment.

More about the role:

• Complete all branch / distribution centre deliveries and supplier collections within given timescales.
• Complete all vehicle checks and follow correct defect reporting procedures
• Complete all required documentation accurately
• Operate the vehicle in a safe and economical manner with feedback from our telematics systems.
• Ensure that your vehicle is maintained in a clean and tidy condition.
• Effectively communicate problems and delays to all relevant parties
• Safely loading and unloading whilst complying with the correct procedures for given location
• Maintain a full knowledge of the Highway code, WTD, EU Drivers Hours Regulations and Vehicle operations
• Ensure all Legal, Health and Safety legislation and Operational procedures are adhered to and to work within Health and Safety guidelines at all times ensuring the safety of self and others
• Ensure all Personnel procedures are adhered to and completed

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

- Valid UK LGV1 C + E driving licence (with a maximum of 6 points).
- Valid CPC

Desirable Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

- Knowledge of driving regulations & legal compliance

- Driving experience

As a driving professional you’ll already know of the critical importance our transport teams have to John Lewis & Partners. Our Shunters ensure trailers are in the right place to ensure stock is in the right place at the right time for our customer’s right across the UK.

Based at our John Lewis NDC in Magna Park Milton Keynes, you’ll be supporting our warehouse teams in meeting our despatch schedule for John Lewis Partnership Branches, Customer Delivery Hubs, RDC`s & NDC`s. You’ll have responsibility for the vehicle you’re using during your shift, completing all unit/trailer checks and safety checks before any use and following the correct defect reporting procedures. You’ll be an ambassador for the John Lewis Partnership brands, upholding the high standards we are known for whilst adhering to the driving laws and regulations.
