Job Description

Our people are at the heart of National Museums Liverpool. Colleagues from across the NML team make a difference every day, creating memorable experiences for everyone and challenging expectations. We pride ourselves on being a place for everyone, but we are always aiming higher, aspiring to be representative of the communities we serve. Through our people, we are building a culture which embeds trust, respect and inclusion and an organisation in which people are engaged and empowered to enable National Museums Liverpool to evolve. You could be just the right person to join us.

We currently have the post(s) of Learning Programme Manager (Communities) available.

There has never been greater public demand or a more pertinent need to understand the heritage of the transatlantic slave trade and discuss its legacies. This is a unique opportunity for someone with the passion, energy, and dedication to join our Learning & Participation team and work with schools and communities to create a vision to transform the International Slavery Museum and Maritime Museum generously supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund with thanks to National Lottery players.

The role will be a key focal point for dialogue with schools and education providers to develop a concept for a Centre for Teaching Black History that puts young people and communities at the heart of the waterfront project development.  The successful candidate will co-produce a framework for piloting activities around what people would like the future of the museum to be, by exploring project themes including Black history, the broader Black experience, Liverpool history, chattel and transatlantic slavery, and contemporary forms of slavery.

Join us on Wednesday 12 January 2022 12noon – 13.00pm for an insight event online with National Museums Liverpool who are currently recruiting roles within our Learning & Participation teams.
