The Division

 

The Greater Sydney Division integrates transport modes including trains, metro and buses; critical infrastructure and services to support Sydney’s growing metropolitan population, projected to swell to over 12 million within the next 40 years. 

 

The opportunity

 

We have a 12-month fixed term opportunity for a Lead Timetable Analyst working within Planning and Programs branch. The primary purpose of the role is to lead the team responsible for the reporting of Timetable metrics, operations, the development of tools to support investigation and analysis of rail timetable projects and timetable performance. The role works with the wider Timetable Analysis team within Planning Analysis and Engagement to identify opportunities for continuous improvement of current operations and planning activities whilst establishing and maintaining collaborative interaction with internal and external stakeholders.

 

This position accommodates remote and flexible work practices across NSW, with the opportunity for you to work out of your nearest office.

 

What you will be involved in

 

The successful candidate will assist in;

 

  • Performing ETL of technical or raw data derived from various sources into databases and or bespoke code-based systems.
  • Enriching data by incorporating business rules and logic to improve versatility and usability of data.
  • Solving business driven analytical problems by creating code-based solutions (preferred but not limited to SQL, C#, R).
  • Working in a team with other subject matter experts to collaboratively solve complex multi-discipline problems.

 

About you

 

We are looking for a highly skilled and innovative analyst with a strong coding background. Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement experience is vital. You will ideally have a demonstrated background in having processed raw data using a combination of ETL, data enrichment, database and or software-based analytics to determine relevant insights.

 

It is highly desirable if you possess tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent industry experience.

 

Strategic thinking and an astute attention to detail is critical to this role.

 

You will enjoy working flexibly across team and branch priorities and be comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
