Performance Analysis Technical Lead

The Role:

As a key member of AMD’s performance compiler team, you will use your industry experience to collaborate with customer/ISV to improve application performance in HPC, Cloud, and database domains, focusing on AMD’s high-performance processors and multi-core server systems. The goal is to identify and drive improvement in the compiler to automatically deliver the required performance on the customer application. Collaborate with compiler engineering teams on solutions - work with bright engineers inside and outside of AMD. It's all about building the world's best infrastructure with AMD's hardware.

We are looking for a problem solver who enjoys collaborating with team members across the globe. Your technical abilities and collaborative nature will directly impact AMD’s success with key partners and customers. You will operate with autonomy and flexibility as you develop in this role. Key Responsibilities:

  • Bring up customer applications using AMD tool chain, set up for consistent performance measurements and analyzing performance issues
  • Analyze the large applications stacks in a small-scale setup to identify compiler optimization / code generation improvements to start with and expand the scope to analyze at scale
  • Extract simplified and independent test cases to simulate functional or performance issues for core compiler developers to work on
  • Collaborate with US, Europe and Asia customers in identifying problems and suggesting solutions
  • Work with core compiler development team, staying up to date on evolving features and sharing insights from customers

Preferred experience:

  • Hands-on experience in analyzing benchmarks and performance of workloads - proven track record with tools and analysis suitable for large application stack
  • Excellent knowledge of compiler optimization techniques, use of optimized libraries, profilers tools
  • Experience in working with customers/partners across the world
  • Experience working and collaborating with core engineering teams
  • Representing technical teams in customer meetings

Academic Credentials:

  • BS or master’s in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Degree with emphasis on Computer Architecture, Algorithms and Compilers preferred
