The Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join us in the position of Lead Data Engineer.
This position will help provide work allocation, will act as a facilitator and a senior developer, while eliciting and analysing requirements, including verifying, and validating them. The role is to support the Data and BI team and provide assurances that the existing BI reporting arrangements continue to deliver the business reports. The job holder will help the Data and BI team to make sure Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), Data Lake and Power BI Models are functional
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a team of Database developers & BI Developers plus training and mentoring of team members, business partners and stakeholders on related domain expertise
- Build a strong culture in the Data and BI team around engineering excellence and predictable agile delivery. You’ll ensure key agile ceremonies are performed and the team is aligned around business objectives.
- Work closely with the key business leads, senior management teams and ICT to raise the profile and effectiveness of business intelligence & performance management
- To advise and work with Senior Management and colleagues across OH to develop and implement a consistent, strong approach to business intelligence
- Delivering high performance Data and BI function for the organisation by coaching, mentoring and other disciplines to enhance an organisation ability to successfully accomplish deliverables.
- Responsible for planning and execution of activities such as data cleansing, data migration, ETL, data modelling & mapping and orchestrations.
- Lead the work of integrating new data sources from various key systems (UX, Keystone, D365) and other new system to the existing EDW to enable uninterrupted MI and BI reporting
- Ensure that the physical designs for the data warehouse and its data structures align with OH IT strategies, OH architecture frameworks and logical data models.
- Focus on driving adoption & user engagement regarding BI tooling, decentralising BI and shrinking the gap between engineering and insight
- Facilitate and support the Data & BI team in delivering Data sets and Data analysis results in timely manner to meet internal and external reporting requests
- Responsible for management of technical design documentation and information in structured and organised manner

- Collaborative leader, focused on developing a high-performing team and bringing together multiple disciplines
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and influencing skills
- Experience as a Data and BI Developer or equivalent position with a strong focus on analytics.
- Degree educated in business administration, computer science, and finance or information systems or equivalent
- Experience of working at a senior level in a complex environment; utilising skills in capturing different perspectives, applying systems thinking and taking a cross-organisational perspective.
- Experience of data warehousing, data cleansing, data migration, ETL, data modelling & mapping and orchestrations
- Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (2008, 2012 and 2014)
- Proven experience working on database technology used for business intelligence and/or analytics (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS and Power BI)
- Experience with SQL, Python, R programming and Power BI, or equivalent data analysis tools is desirable
- Extensive experience in creating data dictionaries for technical architects, business glossaries for business users and creating relationship between the two
